Abstract

An assembly apparatus includes backup jigs, a press-fitting and caulking part, and an expansion part. The backup jigs is configured to back up arms of a yoke of the cross shaft universal joint from inside in an axial direction. The press-fitting and caulking part is configured to press-fit cup bearings from outside in the axial direction between bearing holes of the arms and a shaft portion of a cross shaft, and configured to caulk the cup bearings. Abstract

A space-saving centerless grinding machine having high operability is obtained by devising the configuration of component units around the basic configuration of the machine. A dressing means for performing a dressing process for a grinding wheel and a regulating wheel comprises a single dressing unit. The dressing unit is located at a lower position between the grinding wheel and the regulating wheel, and thus eliminates the need for right and left dresser spaces for grinding wheels that have most seriously affected the breadthwise dimension of a conventional centerless grinding machine, leading to space saving and a considerable reduction in the breadthwise dimension of the centerless grinding machine.

Abstract

In through-feed grinding workpieces by grinding stones rotating around the axes of spindles, the spindles are tiltably held by elastic holding means around tilt axes substantially orthogonal to the direction of exit and entrance of the workpieces with respect to the grinding stones. When a grinding loads are imposed on the entrance sides of the grinding stones, the spindles are tilted by offset loads around the tilt axes against the force of urging means in such a manner that the axial displacement and the exit displacement of the grinding stone due to the offset load are substantially the same. The grinding stones are reset around the tilt axes by the elastic holding means immediately before the end of processing at which time the axial displacement is smaller. This makes it possible to reduce the number of defectively ground articles coming from the through-feed grinding and reduce the wear in the grinding stones.

Abstract

In effecting two-sided surface grinding for surface-grinding the opposite surfaces of a workpiece simultaneously by a pair of oppositely disposed grinding wheels, infeed grinding is performed by oscillating the workpiece within the range where the surfaces to be ground of the workpiece do not protrude from the inner and outer peripheries of the grinding wheel surfaces of the grinding wheels, and then through-grinding is performed by feeding the workpiece to allow the surfaces to be ground to pass along the inner and outer peripheries of the grinding wheel surfaces. As an effect, worn wheel edges or the like can be prevented from being formed in the inner and outer peripheral edges, that grinding wheel surfaces can be maintained in proper shape for a prolonged time, that the grinding accuracy is better, and that dress interval can be prolonged, thus improving the life of grinding wheels.

A yoke for a universal joint, where deformation of a set of a fastening section and a bolt is prevented, increasing durability of the bolt. The yoke (1) for a universal joint has an insertion section (11) formed in a tubular shape with an opening in the direction of axis of a rotating shaft and into which one end of the rotating shaft is inserted, a first fastening section (13) and a second fastening section (14) as a pair of fastening sections (12) extended from the insertion section (11) so as to face each other with an opening of the insertion section (11) held in between, and a set of a bolt (16) and a nut (17) for tightening the pair of fastening sections (12) from both sides. When the pair of fastening sections (12) is fastened together, the rotation shaft inserted in the insertion section (11) is held and fixed. The bolt (16) is inserted in a through-hole (13a) of the first fastening section (13). The nut (17) is fitted in an engageable manner in a through-hole (14a) of the second fastening section (14), and that portion of the end face of the nut (17) which faces the first fastening section (13) is formed extended toward the first fastening section (13) such that a gap (S) between the extended portion and the first fastening section (13) has a predetermined width.

Abstract

A yoke for universal joint includes a base portion and a pair of opposed side walls and is connected to one end of a rotating shaft having two planes parallel to each other. One end of the rotating shaft is inserted between the opposed side walls such that both planes oppose the respective opposed side walls and the lower surface is abutted on the base portion. Then, a fastening portion of the opposed side walls in the upper portions thereof is fastened by a bolt such that the rotating shaft is interposed and fixed. On the inner surfaces of the opposed side walls, the concave portion is formed under the fastening portion. The concave portion is pushed against the outer peripheral square portion of the rotating shaft in both sides of the fastening portion in the axial direction of the rotating shaft.
