Abstract

The present invention provides a zirconia composition that exhibits excellent translucency in its sintered body and that enables the mitigation of opalescent properties in the sintered body. The invention also provides a zirconia pre-sintered body and zirconia sintered body therefrom, along with methods that enable easy production of these. The present invention relates to a zirconia composition comprising a zirconia particle, and a stabilizer particle capable of preventing a phase transformation of zirconia, wherein: the zirconia has an average particle diameter (r1) of 1 to 60 nm, the stabilizer has an average particle diameter (r2) of 1 to 60 nm, and the half width of a peak derived from the stabilizer in a powder X-ray diffraction pattern by CuKα radiation is 0.05° to 1.0°. Using the zirconia composition allows the zirconia sintered body to exhibit reduced regularity in its structure, mitigating wavelength-selective reflection and/or transmission, resulting in reduced opalescent properties. This leads to the production of a zirconia sintered body that exhibits excellent translucency and low opalescent properties.

Abstract

A zirconia molded body and a dental mill blank may decrease of the translucency of a zirconia sintered body upon firing even when the cooling solvent used for wet processing of the zirconia molded body or dental mill blank by a dental CAD/CAM system is contaminated. This can allow more convenient fabrication of a zirconia sintered body. A zirconia molded body may include zirconia; a stabilizer capable of inhibiting a phase transformation of zirconia; and a binder, and having an open porosity of 25% or less.

Abstract

The present invention provides: a zirconia composition, a sintered body of which has excellent light transmitting properties, and which is capable of suppressing the opal properties of a sintered body thereof; a zirconia calcined body and a zirconia sintered body, each of which uses this zirconia composition; and a production method which is capable of easily producing this zirconia calcined body or this zirconia sintered body. The present invention relates to a zirconia composition which contains zirconia particles and stabilizer particles that are capable of suppressing a phase transition of zirconia, wherein: the average particle diameter (r1) of the zirconia particles is 1 nm to 60 nm; the average particle diameter (r2) of the stabilizer particles is 1 nm to 60 nm; and the half width of a peak ascribed to the stabilizer as determined by a powder X-ray diffraction pattern obtained using a CuKα ray is 0.05° to 1.0°. The present invention enables the achievement of a zirconia sintered body which has excellent light transmitting properties and low opal properties, since the regularity of the structure of a zirconia sintered body is decreased and wavelength selective reflection and/or transmission is suppressed by using the above-described zirconia composition, thereby suppressing the opal properties.
