A filtering device (1) for filtering water and liquids in general comprises a first reservoir (8) for collecting the water to be filtered, a second reservoir (12) for collecting the filtered water, which reservoir (12) is supplied by falling from the first reservoir (8), a conduit (10) which extends from the first reservoir (8) into the second reservoir, a cartridge type filtering element (11) which is removably received in the conduit (10), a discharge hole (22a, 31) for the filtered water that is positioned between the conduit (10) and the second reservoir (12), and at least one opening (15) for access to the cartridge provided at an end of the conduit (10) that is distal from the first reservoir (8) in order to promote the removal thereof.
