Abstract

A debris receptacle for a router table includes an enclosure configured to be attached to the router table. The enclosure defines an interior sized and shaped to receive a router. The enclosure defines a debris inlet aperture in fluid communication with a router bit aperture of the work platform so that the interior receives the debris from router bit aperture via the debris inlet aperture. The enclosure also defines a debris outlet aperture in fluid communication with a dust collector to remove debris from the interior. The enclosure further defines an air inlet aperture in fluid communication with air in an environment outside the enclosure. The debris receptacle also includes an air intake conduit for fluidly coupling the air inlet aperture to an air inlet of the router, thereby enabling the router to draw air into the router from the environment outside the enclosure to cool the router.

Abstract

A miter gauge for guiding a work piece over a work surface of a work platform in relation to a saw blade. A fence plate is connected to a base assembly and is movable relative to a base of the base assembly to adjust the position of the fence plate relative to the base. Brackets connecting the fence plate to the base are each movable relative to the base to adjust the orientation of the fence plate relative to a first axis perpendicular to the blade in order to square the fence engaging face to the blade. The fence plate is movable relative to the two brackets to adjust the orientation of the fence plate relative to a second axis perpendicular to the work surface in order to square the fence engaging face to the work surface.

Abstract

A miter gauge for guiding a work piece over a work platform has a base assembly that slides over the work platform and a fence that engages the work piece on the work platform. The fence is movable relative to the base assembly and includes a first locating member. A second locating member is operatively connected to the base assembly and selectively engages the first locating member of the fence. The second locating member moves between a locked position where the second locating member is engaged with the first locating member to inhibit movement of the fence and hold the fence at a preset position and an unlocked position where the second locating member disengages the first locating member so that the fence and base assembly are free to move relative to one another.

Abstract

A guide assembly for use with a tool to guide movement of the tool along a channel defined by a work platform. The guide assembly comprises an elongate bar slidably received in the channel. The elongate bar has a width that is less than a width of the channel. The elongate bar defines recesses extending from a first side of the elongate bar toward a second side of the elongate bar. Guides are moveably mounted in one of the recesses of the elongate bar to adjust a working width of the guide assembly to fit the width of the channel. Each guide projects from its recess and has a portion thereof disposed outward of the first side of the elongate bar. The working width of the guide assembly extends between the second side of the elongate bar and the portion of the guide disposed outward of the first side of the elongate bar.

Abstract

A miter gauge for guiding a work piece over a work platform includes a base assembly, a fence, and first and second locating members. The fence and base assembly are connected to one another for relative movement such that the fence is selectively positionable longitudinally along the base assembly to adjust a longitudinal position of the fence with respect to the base assembly. The second locating member is moveable between a locked position where the second locating member is engaged with the first locating member to inhibit longitudinal movement of the fence with respect to the base assembly and hold the fence at a preset longitudinal position with respect to the base assembly and an unlocked position where the second locating member disengages the first locating member such that the base assembly is free to move to other longitudinal positions along the fence.

Abstract

A tool for acting on a workpiece includes a body and an adjustable element movably attached to the body. A tool member on the adjustable element is disposed on the adjustable element to act on the workpiece. The adjustable element is configured to move between a plurality of predetermined adjustment positions to locate a portion of the adjustable element a selected distance from the body. The adjustable element is resiliently biased against movement out of the predetermined adjustment positions. A micro adjustment mechanism provides for micro adjustment of a position of the adjustable element relative to the body once the adjustable element is moved to a selected predetermined adjustment position. The micro adjustment mechanism is configured for moving the adjustable element to an intermediate adjustment position located between the selected predetermined adjustment position and an immediately adjacent predetermined adjustment position for precise position adjustment of the adjustable element.

Abstract

A stock guide assembly guides movement of stock along a work table. The assembly includes a base and a roller operatively connected to the base to engage stock and hold it against the work table. In some embodiments, a biasing member yieldably biases the roller to urge the stock toward the work table and accommodate changes in thickness of the stock. The roller can be mounted at a skew angle to urge the stock toward a fence of the work table. The assembly can include a shaft movable with respect to the base for translationally adjusting the distance of the roller from the base and rotatably adjusting the distance between the roller and the work table. The roller can be rotatably mounted to the end of an arm oriented relative the work table so stock kickback drives the arm to pivot and drive the roller toward the work surface.

Abstract

A stock guide assembly for use with a work table to guide movement of stock along the work table in a feed direction includes a body. The body includes a portion lying in a plane parallel to the feed direction when used to guide movement of the stock. An adjustment mechanism is associated with the body for attaching the body to the work table and permitting the body to be adjusted on the table along an x-axis and a y-axis. A roller assembly is mounted on the body. The roller assembly includes a roller mounted for rotation relative to the body. The roller is positioned at a skew angle relative to the body portion plane and to the feed direction when used to guide movement of the stock. A second stock guide assembly substantially similar to the first stock guide assembly can be provided for use with the work table.

Abstract

A lift device for a power tool includes a plate having an upper surface and a tool aperture extending from the upper surface through the plate and a carriage assembly secured to the plate. The carriage assembly includes a securement mechanism disposed below the plate. The securement mechanism is selectively adjustable for interchangeably securing a plurality of power tools of different cross-sectional dimensions to the carriage assembly below the tool aperture, and a drive assembly for selectively moving the securement mechanism upward and downward relative to the plate to adjust a vertical position of a power tool relative to the tool aperture when the power tool is secured to the carriage assembly.

Abstract

A lift device for selectively adjusting a vertical position of a power tool relative to a working surface of a plate of a work bench includes a carriage assembly securable to an underside of the plate. The carriage assembly includes a securement mechanism selectively adjustable for interchangeably securing a plurality of power tools of different cross-sectional dimensions to the carriage assembly. A drive assembly selectively moves the securement mechanism upward and downward relative to the plate to adjust the vertical position of the power tool relative to the working surface when the power tool is secured to the carriage assembly. A drive-locking mechanism selectively locks the drive assembly. The drive-locking mechanism includes a cam lock for selectively engaging the drive shaft to inhibit rotation of the drive shaft.

Abstract

A featherboard assembly for use with a work table. The featherboard assembly includes a featherboard having a body and an axis. The featherboard assembly further includes an adjustment mechanism associated with the featherboard for attaching the featherboard to the work table. The adjustment mechanism permits the featherboard to be adjusted on the table along a first axis and permits the featherboard to be adjusted along a second axis. The adjustment mechanism is capable of locking the featherboard against movement along the second axis while the featherboard is moved along the first axis and locking the featherboard against movement along the first axis while the featherboard is moved along the second axis.
