In one embodiment, a series of segments (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312, 314, 316, 317, 318, 320, 322, 324) are joined together so as to create the appearance of two crosspieces (112, 124, 130, 148) intersecting with one another (112, 124, 130, 148) at a point where one of the crosspieces (112, 124, 130, 148) has an appearance of having been notched out. Play elements are illustratively connected to at least some of the segments (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312, 314, 316, 317, 318, 320, 322, 324).
Embodiments of a connector (304) for commercial playground equipment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a playground component is provided that includes a connector (304) pre-loaded on a rope (302). The connector (304) includes a connector nut (310), optionally a washer (308), and a connector base (306) that are kept from sliding off the end of the rope (302) by a stop (312). The stop (312) in one embodiment is a ferrule (312) attached to the end of the rope. A specially shaped opening (404) is formed in another component (402) that is also part of the playground component. The specially shaped opening (404) is configured such that at least a portion of the connector base (306) is insertable through the opening (404) when the connector base (306) is rotated to a first orientation, but the connector base (306) is unable to be pulled back through the specially shaped opening (404) when rotated to a second orientation after insertion into the other component (402).
Embodiments of play systems incorporating a balanced crosspiece concept are disclosed. In one embodiment, a series of segments are joined together so as to create the appearance of two crosspieces intersecting with one another at a point where one of the crosspieces has an appearance of having been notched out. Play elements are illustratively connected to at least some of the segments.
Embodiments of a connector for commercial playground equipment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a playground component is provided that includes a connector pre-loaded on a rope. The connector includes a connector nut, optionally a washer, and a connector base that are kept from sliding off the end of the rope by a stop. The stop in one embodiment is a ferrule attached to the end of the rope. A specially shaped opening is formed in another component that is also part of the playground component. The specially shaped opening is configured such that at least a portion of the connector base is insertable through the opening when the connector base is rotated to a first orientation, but the connector base is unable to be pulled back through the specially shaped opening when rotated to a second orientation after insertion into the other component.
Embodiments of a playground device that includes a net lattice are disclosed. The net lattice is attached either directly or indirectly to the playground device. First and second segments of a net rope are part of the net lattice and include a woven outer net rope layer that surrounds a woven inner net rope layer. A net clamp is also part of the net lattice. The first and second segments of the net rope run substantially parallel to one another through the net clamp. The net clamp secures the first segment of net rope to the second segment of net rope at the point at which they run substantially parallel to one another.
