Abstract

The invention relates to a method for treating metal strip in a directly fired furnace through which the metal strip is guided. The furnace is fired directly by gas burners and has a non-fired zone through which the exhaust gases from the fired zone flow and thus heat the metal strip. After leaving the non-fired zone, the exhaust gases from the furnace undergo post-combustion in an afterburner chamber. According to the invention, methane is injected into the non-fired zone, which causes nitrogen oxides contained in the waste gas to be converted into hydrogen cyanide.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for drying salts with a water of crystallisation content in convective apparatuses that can additionally be indirectly heated. The invention is primarily characterised in that the drying process takes place with a moisture content of the drying gas above a determined level. The gas surrounding the salt particles during the drying process therefore has a specific humidity. In this way, the rate of drying is positively influenced.

Abstract

A method for controlling the atmosphere in a protective gas chamber for the continuous treatment of metal strips. A metal strip is guided into and out of the protective gas chamber via locks. At least one lock has at least two sealing elements for the metal strip which runs through it, with the result that a sealed chamber is formed between the two sealing elements. The gas pressure (P2, PD) is measured in the protective gas chamber and in the sealed chamber of the lock and the pressure (PD) in the sealed chamber is regulated, to be precise in such a way that, during operation, the differential pressure between the protective gas chamber and the sealed chamber is kept as far as possible to an optimum value.

Abstract

A water turbine with a rotatable turbine wheel having a wheel disc, buckets fixed to the wheel disc, and nozzle expelling a water jet on the bucket. The rotatable wheel and the nozzle are arranged in a casing with a water outlet. The interior of the casing reduces splash back of discharging water and detrimental water spray on the rotatable wheel. An energy damping device is attached on stationary, water splash exposed parts inside the turbine casing to dissipate energy from water of high velocity leaving the buckets and dense pulverized water mist.

Abstract

A papermaking screen, especially for the sheet forming zone, has one paper side and one machine side with a first type of transverse yarns of the paper side and a second type of transverse yarns (25 to 40) of the machine side. The transverse yarns are woven with at least one type of longitudinal yarns (41 to 56). The longitudinal yarns (41 to 56) on the machine side within the machine-side pattern repeat bind two respective transverse yarns of the second type (25, 28; 31, 34; 37, 40). The division of the intersections for the longitudinal yarns is then improved, so that marks in the paper to be produced are prevented to the greatest extent possible.
