A method for converting carbonaceous raw materials and in particular biomass into hydrogen, includes the steps of: gasification of the carbon-containing raw materials in a gasifier, wherein heated water vapour is introduced into the gasifier and used for gasification; and cleaning of the hydrogen-containing synthesis gas produced in the gasification, wherein the gasification is an allothermal gasification and the heated water vapour is used both as gasification agent and as heat carrier for the gasification, wherein energy not used for H2 production is at least partially reused for the production and/or superheating of water vapour.
A process for generating hydrogen by thermal cleavage of gaseous hydrocarbons at temperatures of above 1000°C, wherein at least one facility is provided for storing and/or delivering thermal energy, characterized in that: - the hydrocarbon is preheated to a specified temperature in the facility (1) for storing and/or delivering thermal energy, - the hydrocarbon or a product gas is heated in a high-temperature section, wherein - this further heating is brought about at least partly by a feed of oxygen into the high-temperature section and by subsequent combustion of part of the generated hydrogen and/or the further heating is accomplished at least partly by an electrically operated heating facility, - the product gas is cooled, more particularly in a second facility (2) for storing and/or delivering thermal energy.
