A brake arrangement, for a retractable screen arrangement in which the a screen roller applies a retraction force to the screen and brake arrangement, includes a brake arrangement, for providing a braking force between the brake arrangement and a track which guides the brake arrangement, to resist retraction. The brake arrangement provides a brake member with a friction surface for contacting the bearing surface; a brake member support for supporting the brake member; and a forcing arrangement for forcing the friction surface against the bearing surface. The forcing arrangement includes a biasing arrangement for biasing the friction surface onto the bearing surface, and a force-increasing arrangement for increasing the force with which the friction surface engages the bearing surface. The force increasing arrangement converts a frictional force between the friction surface and the track into additional contact pressure force of the friction surface onto the guide track.

A retractable screen that is integrated within a wall cavity and fixed to an internal door frame (18). The screen has a base frame (10) mounted to the support (18). The base frame comprises a lower elongate member (12) a U shaped upper elongate member (14) and two U shaped side elongate members (16) each having an upper part and a lower part respectively fixed to the upper and lower elongate members. A lower guide track (50) is mounted to the lower elongate member. An upper guide track assembly is mounted within the upper elongate member (14). The upper guide track assembly includes an elongate insert member (256) with an upper guide track mounted therein and the elongate insert member is configured for insert installation into the upper elongate member. The side elongate members (16) house a roller assembly for a screen (40).

An upper guide track assembly for a retractable screen is described. The assembly comprises a U shaped guide channel, a track attachment member for attaching the assembly to a support, a track outer member connectable to the attachment member and a screen retaining member within the guide channel. The retaining member receives and retains an upper edge of a screen. The retaining member has two resilient wings extending from either side of the body. Each wing is biased towards a position in which the distal end of each wing is away from the body. The wings are moveable against the bias to a retracted position. When the retaining member is retained in the guide channel, each wing is held in the retracted position against the bias. This allows an upper edge of a screen retained by the screen retaining member to be biased in the vertical direction.

The disclosure relates to the field of providing a flexible screen which is extensible and retractable across an opening. It is desirable to provide a bottom guide track which is convenient to fit and with a low profile. The disclosed guide track arrangement provides an elongate mounting member (300) for securing to a support that forms part of the opening, and which provides at least one elongate connection recess (305, 307); and an elongate track member (400), formed separately from and attachable to the mounting member (300), and having a track region (406) with an elongate guide recess (505) for slidingly retaining an edge of a flexible screen. The track member (400) has at least one engagement part (402, 404) engageable into the complementary connection recess (305, 307) by lateral movement of the track member (400) to connect the track member (400) to the mounting member (300).

Roller assembly and guide for a retractable screen
A roller assembly for a horizontally opening retractable screen has a flexible screen with upper and lower toothed edges. Upper and lower guide tracks each have an elongate retaining channel in which an upper and lower edge of the flexible screen is received. The assembly comprises a roller onto which the flexible screen is rolled when the screen is open and from which the flexible screen is unrolled. A guide arrangement is associated with the lower end of the roller that guides the lower toothed edge of the screen into the elongate retaining channel of the lower guide track. The guide arrangement defines a guide passage having an exit aperture through which the lower toothed edge passes during unrolling that communicates with the lower guide track retaining channel, wherein the toothed edge is retained from being pulled out of the exit aperture as it passes therethrough.
