Abstract

A filter system operating under vacuum conditions, comprising a filter section comprising filter elements of a number and a size selected to optimize a flow stream volume within the filter section and a contact surface between the flow stream and surfaces of the filter elements and to optimize flow of a liquid phase captured from the flow stream along the surfaces of the filter elements, and configured to capture the liquid phase from the flow stream, and direct the liquid phase from the filter section to a flow stream input section, which directs the liquid phase out of the system at a liquid output thereof, the system delivering a filtered flow stream from a flow stream output section at a flow stream output thereof.

Abstract

The spout can be used on a rigid or a nonrigid container. It includes a first member slidingly movable with reference to a second member so as to open and close a valve located at a front end of the spout. In use, the liquid flow can automatically be decreased and even stopped when the receptacle is full. The spout can include an annular outer gasket to create an airtight connection between the spout and the opening of the receptacle during pouring. This allows nonrigid containers to be emptied without collapsing. It also allows any airborne droplets and vapors present in the opening of the receptacle to be drawn into the container with the incoming air during pouring, thereby preventing or minimizing the presence of such droplets and vapors in the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The spout (100) can be used on a rigid or a nonrigid container (130). It includes a first member (102) slidingly movable with reference to a second member (104) so as to open and close a valve (170) located at a front end of the spout (100). Abstract

The clamp includes a hollow base having an open top side, two opposed open ends, and an inner sidewall bordering a bottom side as well as two opposite lateral sides of the base. The inner sidewall defines a passage extending between the two opposite open ends and through which a flexible tube can pass. The clamp also includes a slidable part inserted into the base at one of its ends to close its top side. The proposed concept is particularly advantageous for sugar making.

Abstract

Abstract

The tubing connector system (100) provides a removable air-tight and water-tight sealing connection under vacuum conditions between an end portion (102) of a flexible tubing (104) and a tapping hole (108) on a main conduit (106). It includes a single screw-type clamp (120) having an adjustable tension mechanism (122) and a flexible metallic band (124) cooperating with the adjustable tension mechanism (122), a tube fitting (150), and a resilient gasket (180), to be interposed between an outer surface of the main conduit (106) and the inner side face of a flange (170) provided on the tube fitting (104), to seal a space immediately surrounding a tapping-hole engaging portion (162) on the tube fitting (104) when brought into cooperative engagement with the inner periphery of tapping hole (108). The sealing attachment can be created very quickly, even by an unexperienced operator, using parts that are relatively inexpensive and simple.

Abstract

The arrangement (100) includes a sap collecting device (102) and a slide clamp (104). The sap collecting device (102) includes a tubing fixation portion (140) over which the free end of the flexible tubing (106) can be removably inserted with a frictional engagement. The slide clamp (104) includes an annular sleeve portion (180) that is slidingly insertable over the unexpanded outer diameter of the flexible tubing (106) and removably positionable proximate the free end of the flexible tubing (106), when the free end of the flexible tubing (106) is inserted over the tubing fixation portion (140), to constrict the free end in a withdrawal-resisting frictional engagement with the tubing fixation portion (140). The slide clamp (104) also includes a plug portion (182) having an outer peripheral wall surface (206) on which the free end of the flexible tubing (106) is removably insertable to prevent air and contaminants from entering.

Abstract

The clothesline system (100) includes a main supporting frame (120) positioned at a loading end (102), a remote supporting frame (122) positioned at a remote end (104), a first end pulley (110) mounted for rotation on the main supporting frame (120), a second end pulley (112) mounted for rotation on the remote supporting frame (122) and a clothespin laying pulley (150) mounted for rotation on the main supporting frame (120). The clothespin laying pulley (150) is positioned in-between the first end pulley (110) and the second end pulley (112). Two tensioning units (160, 162) are provided, both tensioning units (160, 162) being independent and spaced-apart from one another. Each tensioning unit (160, 162) has three separately- rotatable turning pegs (192). The clothesline system (100) further includes three individual clothesline cables (152, 154, 156) and a plurality of spaced-apart and removable clothespins (170). A method of mounting springs in the clothespins (170) is also disclosed.

Abstract

The pouring spout includes a first tube detachably connectable to a liquid-storage container, a second tube slideably connected to the first tube, and a liquid outlet duct and an air inlet duct. The liquid outlet duct and the air inlet duct can be both selectively opened and closed by a spring-biased valve system. The air inlet duct, when the valve system is moved from a closed position to an opened position, is initially made in fluid communication with the liquid-storage container only either simultaneously with the liquid outlet duct or immediately after the liquid outlet duct is initially made in fluid communication with the liquid-storage container. This arrangement prevents the liquid from filling the air inlet duct when the liquid is poured using the pouring spout. It also minimizes evaporation and permeability of the liquid on internal surfaces inside the pouring spout.

Abstract

The device is provided for collecting sap from a tapped hole of a tree. It includes a collector having a substantially frustoconical outer peripheral wall surface and an inner peripheral wall surface. The collector also has a portion that is removably insertable into the tapped hole with a frictional engagement. The material between the peripheral wall surfaces at the removably-insertable collector portion is elastically and temporality deformable in response to a peripheral pressure exerted inwardly on the outer peripheral wall surface when the removably-insertable collector portion is inserted with a forced frictional fit into the tapped hole.

Abstract

The pouring spout has an inlet tube detachably connectable to a liquid-storage container and an outlet tube slideably connected to the inlet tube. A liquid duct and an air duct are defined into the inlet tube and the outlet tube. A valve system is provided for opening the liquid duct and the air duct when the outlet tube is slideably moved relative to the inlet tube. The liquid duct and the air duct open separately into the liquid-storage container. When pouring, the liquid flows through the liquid duct and air separately enters into the liquid-storage container via the air duct.
