The invention makes an improvement in that the kitchen scales are designed as open kitchen scales, wherein a joint-like gap is provided between the carrier plate and the substructure, through which gap water and/or liquid can penetrate the kitchen scales and can leave the kitchen scales and that the weighing cell (6) has at least one strain gauge which is provided at least partially with a parylene coating.
