Abstract

The invention relates to a free fall winch comprising a drum which can be rotated by a winch drive via a multistage planetary transmission, wherein a drive stage of the planetary transmission is connected to the winch drive on the input side and can be braked by a service brake, and an output stage of the planetary transmission is connected to the drum on the output side. A free fall brake is provided in order to brake the drum during a free fall operation and is connected to the planetary transmission by means of a brake rotor.
