Abstract

The invention relates to a pressing element (1) for a grinding belt (30), in particular for wide-belt grinding machines, consisting at least of a substrate (10) with padding (3) and an anti-friction layer (4). In order to significantly improve the grinding results, a method and a pressing element (1) based on said method are used, such that an additional cooling of the padding (3) and thus of the grinding belt (30) is enabled. According to the invention, the pressing element (1) consists essentially of padding (3) that in turn consists of a knitted spacer fabric. The knitted spacer fabric is produced from two loosely woven textile surfaces interconnected by pile threads, such that the cooling medium can flow through the padding (3).
