Abstract

A fluid control device includes a fluid pipe section, a fluid valve assembled with the fluid pipe section, a flow rate sensor connected to the fluid pipe section monitoring a flow rate of the liquid fluid flow within the fluid pipe section, a control device processor electrically connected to the flow rate sensor to receive flow measurement signals from the flow rate sensor and operable to control movement of the fluid valve to a shutoff condition, and a wireless communication transmitter electrically connected to the control device processor. In response to the control device processor identifying from the flow measurement signals a flow condition exceeding a predetermined flow threshold, the control device processor performs at least one of controlling movement of the fluid valve to the shutoff condition and controlling wireless transmission of a user alert from the wireless communication transmitter.

Abstract

The present invention provides a faucet system with a wand that may be pulled away from a faucet body. A connector connects to a wand hose with an inner hose, an outer hose, and two flow paths extending through the faucet body to the wand. The wand hose provides a first flow path to a first wand waterway and a second flow path to a second wand. The connector directs a continuously pressurized first fluid supply from a first inlet to the first flow path and a second fluid supply from a second inlet to the second flow path. A hose coupler connects the wand to the wand hose such that the wand may be manipulated by a user, such as when continuously pressurized fluid is received. The wand may include a shutoff mechanism and a shutoff actuator which control the flow of fluid to an outlet of the wand.

Abstract

The present invention provides a shutoff mechanism for a wand of a faucet. The wand may be pulled away from a body of the faucet. The shutoff mechanism controls the flow of fluid to an outlet of the wand. The fluid may be continuously pressurized treated water. The shutoff mechanism includes two or more gates with windows and shutter portions. The gates may be rotated relative to one another such that the windows and shutter portions may define a flow path through the shutoff mechanism. A shutoff actuator may control the position of the shutoff mechanism between a closed position which prevents flow through the shutoff mechanism and an open position which allows flow through the shutoff mechanism.

Abstract

A device for generating a controlled flow event to regulate a hydraulic condition of a piping system of a building is an electrically-powered fluid pump or fluid valve, having a fluid inlet and fluid outlet. The fluid inlet is configured to be in fluidic communication with a tank of a toilet or is supplied water from the piping system of the building. The fluid outlet is in fluidic communication with either: i) a bowl of the toilet; ii) an overflow tube of the toilet tank; or iii) the tank of the toilet; iv) or a drain. An electronic controller controls the operation of the device and is configured to repeatedly turn on and off the electrically-powered fluid pump for a predetermined elapsed time when the hydraulic condition is identified. The hydraulic condition may be a potential freezing condition or an overly high pressure of the piping system of the building.

Abstract

A low power consumption leak detection device for a toilet tank includes a water level switch disposed within the toilet tank having a float. The float moves with a water level within the toilet tank from a starting position to a lower position. An electronic circuit is configured to be electrically disconnected from a power source when the float is in the starting position. The electronic circuit is configured to be electrically connected to the power source when the float is in the lower position and activate a timer having a preset time limit, which if reached sends an alarm signal to an alarm indicator. The alarm indicator notifies a resident of a potential water leak problem that can be fixed. The lower power consumption leak detection device only uses power when the water level drops thereby greatly extending the life of the battery and usefulness of the device.

Abstract

A flow sensor configured to detect a fluid flow of a liquid inside a pipe portion is disclosed. A thin film thermal mass flow sensor has a substrate defining a thickness from an upper side opposite a bottom side. The upper side of the substrate supports a resistive heating circuit, a first temperature sensor circuit and a second temperature sensor circuit. The resistive heating circuit is disposed between the first and second temperature sensor circuits. The circuits are electrically connected respectively to a plurality of leadwires configured to be attachable to electronic equipment. A thermally conductive membrane is configured to separate the fluid flow of the liquid inside the pipe portion from the thin film thermal mass flow sensor. A thermally conductive bond connects the bottom side of the substrate of the thin film thermal mass flow sensor to the thermally conductive membrane.

Abstract

In a method of monitoring fluid usage in a fluid system, a proportional control valve is provided, including a valve element operable to control fluid flow from a fluid source to the fluid system. A first pressure upstream of the valve element and a second pressure downstream of the valve element are measured to identify a pressure differential across the valve element. In response to the identified pressure differential, the valve element is adjusted to one of a plurality of flow positions to adjust the pressure differential across the valve element to substantially match a predetermined pressure differential. A flow rate through the proportional control valve is determined based on the first pressure, the second pressure, and the adjusted flow position of the valve element. Based on the determined flow rate over time, an amount of fluid usage in the fluid system is determined.

Abstract

An electronic sensor includes a housing having a distal end configured to be exposed to a flow of a fluid media opposite a proximal end configured not to be exposed to the fluid media. A chamber and connected passageway are disposed within the housing. The passageway is connected at one end to the chamber and connected at another end to an opening disposed at the distal end of the housing. The opening is configured to be in fluidic communication with the fluid media. A pressure sensor and a first temperature sensor are disposed within the chamber. A viscous gel is disposed within the chamber, the viscous gel separating on a first side both the pressure sensor and the first temperature sensor apart from the passageway on a second side of the viscous gel. The chamber can include a non-smooth surface to increase viscous gel adhesion.

Abstract

The present invention provides a disposal snap ring installation tool that enables a consumer to easily install a disposal snap ring. The disposal snap ring installation tool includes a body and a handle. The body includes a base and an arm. At least a portion of the handle extends angularly downwardly and outwardly relative to the outer wall of the base. The base is operable to be inserted into a circumferential gap in a disposal snap ring. The arm is operable to receive an end of the disposal snap ring such that one end of the disposal snap ring abuts one of the first end wall and the second end wall of the base. The base is operable to be removed from the circumferential gap in the disposal snap ring by pulling the handle radially outwardly in a plane of the disposal snap ring.
