Abstract
A coffee making system (100) includes a multi-use filter body (105). The filter body (105) includes a base (140), a top portion (110), and a sidewall (120) connecting the base (140) and the top portion (110), the sidewall (120) at least partially including filter material. The filter material is adapted to allow the passage of liquid and prevent the passage of coffee grounds. The filter body (105) is selectively useable in an inverted position as a filter in a press coffee making mode of operation (101) and selectively useable in an upright position in a pour-over coffee making mode of operation (102). In another version, the filter body (102) and a transverse filter body (215) combine to form a dual filter arrangement (210) that can be used in a press coffee maker (101) and/or to make an infused beverage.
IPC Classes ?

Abstract
An extraction apparatus and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. The apparatus includes a cylindrical container with lid and pour spout, a container insert, and a plunger including a piston, a rod, a handle, and a filter or filtration chamber. The container insert is designed to catch infusible material which may be easily removed from the container when the container is empty or when the extract fluid remains in the container. The plunger may temporarily couple with the insert to allow the insert to be pulled up through the container with the grounds of other infusible material captured between the insert and the plunger allowing for quick and easy cleanup. The extraction apparatus is adapted for a use in a variety of sizes and may be adapted for manufactured at low cost. A variety of embodiments and alternatives are also included in the disclosure.
IPC Classes ?
- A47J 31/38 - Coffee-making apparatus in which hot water is passed through the filter under pressure with hot water under liquid pressure with mechanical pressure-producing means operated by hand
- A47J 31/20 - Apparatus in which ground coffee or tea-leaves are immersed in the hot liquid in the beverage container having immersible, e.g. rotatable, filters

Abstract
An infusion process apparatus (1) for making a beverage includes a container (10), an insert (20) which initially holds a measured amount of an infusible material and later holds this same material in the form of the grinds that are filtered from the beverage, an elongated plunger (30), a filtering basket (50) attached to the plunger, and a means (60) adapted to releaseably lock with the insert (20) so as to remove it and its grinds contents from the container (10) as the filtering basket (50) is withdrawn from the container - thereby providing for easy cleanup of the process' grinds, and wherein the filter basket's bottom (50A) is adapted to compress the filtered infusible material that has been forced down into the insert (20) by the filter basket's downward movement and to adhere to the insert's contents while stopping the infusion process so that the beverage does not acquire the characteristic bitterness and burnt taste that is associated with an over-infused brew.
