Abstract
The invention relates to a system and a method for generating electrical energy from the potential energy in a flow of abrasive material circulating in an existing channel, the system comprising at least one cylindrical generator device which, in turn, comprises a protective drum and a helicoid that are connected to a rotational transmission system structurally joined to the protective drum and, in turn, connected to a motor-generator unit, a support structure for supporting the different components of the device over the existing channel, and at least one gate fitted at the inlet of the device, for channeling the flow towards the device, and a gate fitted to the outlet, for channeling the flow from the device into the existing channel.
