Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling a printing machine, which is used in particular to print UV-reactive printing inks, wherein the emitter output of a drying device should be monitored in order to ensure the processing of printing inks and paints that are cured by radiation. The radiation output is monitored by means of UV-reactive pigments that are introduced into the coating and that react to UV irradiation with a color change. The degree of polymerization of the printing inks and/or paints is determined inline, meaning during the printing process, or offline, meaning outside of the printing machine after the printing process. Characteristic values for the emitter output are derived from the respective detection of the color change of the pigments. By using doped printing sheets at regular intervals in stacks of sheets, the quality of the drying in a print order can be continually documented.

Abstract

The invention describes a method for determining the degree of curing or drying of one or more printed inks and/or paint layers on a substrate. For example, a paper, cardboard, plastic film or composite print substrate can be printed in a sheet or web-processing printing machine in a mass-printing method. Possible methods include intaglio, flexographic, screen or offset printing methods. To ensure good drying, the degree of curing or drying of the printed product during passage through the printing machine or at a print sensor outside the printing machine is determined using a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor. To this end, the received measurement signal from the SPR sensor is fed to an evaluation unit and characteristic parameters are determined from the received signal in order to permit a determination to be made about the degree of curing or drying of the printed product on an absolute basis or relative to one or more reference values.

Abstract

Sheet-guiding arrangement which is intended for a transfer cylinder (1) and, as such, serves to guide a sheet which has been picked up by a transfer cylinder and is carried along by the latter as it rotates. The invention is based on the problem of finding solutions which make it possible, in only a short space of time, to change the configuration of the sheet-guiding arrangement assigned to a transfer cylinder, or at least of cleaning the same. This problem is solved according to the invention by a sheet-guiding arrangement which is intended for a transfer cylinder and has a blowing box (2), a directing plate (3), which covers the blowing box in the direction of the transfer cylinder, and a sheet-guiding surface (F), which is directed towards the sheet-running path, wherein the directing plate can be removed from the blowing box and the blowing box is incorporated in the printing machine such that it can be pivoted about a tilting axis (K) running parallel to the axis of rotation (x) of the transfer cylinder, and wherein there is formed in both side regions of the blowing box a respective push-in guide (4), into which the side-periphery region of the directing plate can be pushed.

Abstract

It is an object of the invention to combine the known cold film transfer method with an inline embossing apparatus within a sheet-fed printing press in such a way that the advantages of cold film transfer, namely the economical transfer technique and the ability to subsequently print over it, are coupled to the haptic appearance of hot film embossing printing. This is achieved by the transfer layers which are transferred in the cold film transfer method being embossed during passage through the printing press.
