Abstract

A method of generating a three dimensional surface profile of a food object is provided wherein a food object is exposed with a conical X-ray beam while the food object is conveyed. The attenuation of the X-rays after penetrating through the food object is detected, and the detection is performed using a plurality of sensors arranged below the food object. The plurality of sensors are positioned at predetermined angular positions in relation to the X-ray source. For each of the plurality of sensors, the detected attenuation is converted into a penetration length of the X-ray beam, and the penetration length indicates the length from where the X-ray beam enters and leaves the food object. Surface coordinates are sequentially determined using the penetration lengths and the angular positions as input data.

Abstract

A pin bone removal system involves automatically removing a pin bone area of a fish fillet when conveyed by a conveyor after undergoing a cutting process, and includes at least two side by side arranged conveyor belts extending from a first end for receiving a fish fillet to a second end. The internal arrangement of the side by side arranged conveyor belts is such that the spacing varies among first end the conveyor belts along their length. The transversal position of the fish fillet in relation to the first end is adjusted when the fish fillet arrives at the downstream position such that the position of the cut pin bone area is such that the cut pin bone area falls through the space while the remaining part of the fish fillet remains on the first and/or second conveyor belts.

Abstract

A meat inspection and sorting line comprising supply means, a radiation inspection facility, a cutting facility and a reject facility. Meat parts are brought together and fed into the radiation inspection facility by means of a conveyor in a layer of meat parts. An undesired object is detected by the radiation inspection facility by means of e.g. an X-ray technique and a part of the layer of meat parts containing the undesired object is identified and separated from the layer of meat parts by the cutting facility. The identified and separated part of the layer of meat parts containing the undesired object is rejected by the reject facility from the layer of meat parts.

Abstract

This invention relates to a pin bone removal system adapted to automatically removing a pin bone area of a fish fillet when conveyed by a conveyor after undergoing a cutting process, where the pin bone area has been cut from the remaining part of the fish fillet. The system includes a conveyor system having at least two side by side arranged conveyor belts extending from a first end to a second end. The first end acts as a receiving end where the fish fillet is received with the cut pin bone area. The internal arrangement of the side by side arranged conveyor belts is such that at the first end the conveyor belts are substantially adjacent to each other and at a position downstream from the first end the side by side arranged conveyor belts are spaced apart. The transversal position of the fish fillet in relation to the first end is adjusted such that when the fish fillet arrives at the downstream position the position of the cut pin bone area is such that the cut pin bone area falls through the space while the remaining part of the fish fillet remains on the first and/or second conveyor belts.

Abstract

Provided is an apparatus and a method for producing a mix of a first type of food products and a second type of food products that fulfills at least two target criteria including a desired weight ratio between the first and second type of food products and a lean/fat ratio of the mix. At least three controllable in-feed channels at an in-feed end of a conveyor supply separate streams of the first and second food products. One of the in-feed channels supplies the first type of food products and two of the in-feed channels supply a second type of food products being distinguished via a different lean/fat ratio estimate. The determined weight of food products and the measured lean/fat ratio of the food products are used as operation parameters so that the mix fulfills the at least two target criteria.

Abstract

This invention relates to a conveyor system and a method for producing a sequence of discrete food items from a plurality of incoming food objects including at least one food item conveyed by an in-feed conveyor including an in-feed conveyor belt such that the distance between adjacent food objects of said sequence of discrete food objects fulfills a pre-determined distance criterion. A first conveyor belt provided adapted to be placed adjacent to the in-feed conveyor belt and a second conveyor belt is provided adapted to be placed adjacent to the first conveyor belt. The adjacent ends of the first and second conveyors belts are operable connected together via a junction such that their internal position is fixed at all times. An imaging mechanism images the incoming objects so as to obtain image data including image data indicating the length of the incoming objects and distances between adjacent incoming objects. A control unit is provided to operate a back and forth advancement of the junction and thus adjust the active length of the first conveyor. The first conveyor belt acts thus as a buffer for collecting at least one of the incoming food objects from the in-feed conveyor. The control unit operates the delivering of the at least one collected food objects to the second conveyor belt via controllable advancing of the junction from an extended position towards a contracted position of the first conveyor based on the image data.

Abstract

This invention relates to a fish carrier adapted to be connected to an overhead transport-conveyor system for carrying at least one fish at the tail part of the fish with the head of the fish facing down. The fish carrier includes spaced apart bars, where one end of the spaced apart bars acting as a receiving end where a fish is received at the tail part and the other opposite end of the spaced apart bars acting as a holding end where the fish is hold at the tail part. The fish carrier is adapted to be used in relation with fish species having outwardly shoulder-like protruding parts extending from the spine of the fish at the caudal peduncle at the tail end of the fish, the distance between the spaced apart bars at the holding end being less than the distance between the outwardly shoulder-like protruding parts such that when a fish is received at receiving end it becomes propped between the spaced apart bars at the holding end via the outwardly shoulder-like protruding parts of the fish.

An undesired object (30) is detected by the radiation inspection facility (2) by means of e.g. an X-ray technique and a part of the layer (14) of meat parts containing the undesired object (30) is identified and separated from the layer (14) of meat parts by the cutting facility (32). The identified and separated part of the layer (14) of meat parts containing the undesired object (30) is rejected by the reject facility (40) from the layer (14) of meat parts.

Abstract

Method of processing of fish, for example salmon and related species, said method comprising the steps of - providing a live fish, - slaughtering the fish, - subjecting the fish or part of the fish to an electrical stimulation prior to at least a further processing step of the fish, and - wherein said at least one further processing step comprises the step of removing pin-bones from the fish or part of the fish. By subjecting the fish or part of the fish to the electrical stimulation it is achieved that the pin-bones can be removed without waiting for the normal rigor process to be concluded and the normal post-rigor state to be reached and further it is achieved that the pin-bones can still be removed satisfactorily, e.g. without breaking when being pulled etc., since the bonding of the bones are relieved by the electrical stimulation.

Abstract

System and method for processing of food items, in particular fish 10, involving at least two processing stations 2, 4 such as for example gutting or filleting machines for processing of fish 10. The system comprises measuring or detecting means 20, 22 for determining or estimating a length dimension L and weight or a value corresponding to the weight W of each item. Further, the system comprises means for delivering a food item, e.g. a fish 10, to a selected processing station 2, 4 e.g. a gutting machine or a filleting machine, in dependence on a condition factor K based on said determined or estimated values for the length dimension L and weight or a value corresponding to the weight W of the item. A selected processing station may be a manual processing station 4.
