Abstract

The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising a rotary valve (8) that is rotatably mounted in a yoke (3) and comprises a disk (81) that is provided with at least one through-hole (819), the disk (81) being movably mounted so as to rotate in the combustion chamber (4) against the yoke (3) between an inlet angular position in which the through-hole (819) is aligned with the inlet port (36), an exhaust angular position in which the through-hole (819) is aligned with the exhaust port (37) and a compression angular position in which the disk (81) closes off the inlet port (36) and the exhaust port (37). The rotary valve (8) comprises a central portion (82) that is fixedly mounted with respect to translation and movably mounted with respect to rotation in the yoke (3), the disk (81) being secured to the central portion (82) so as to rotate therewith and mounted so as to be translatably movable relative to the central portion (82).
