Abstract

A system is disclosed for the inspection, by means of X-rays, of a conveyor belt comprising a plurality of metal wires disposed longitudinally in the interior thereof and a location for inspection; the system comprising: a fixed structure disposed at the location for inspection; a carriage slidingly connected to the fixed structure, which can slide horizontally with regard to said fixed structure; an X-ray emitter disassemblably installed on the carriage; an X-ray sensitive camera installed on the carriage in a position facing said X-ray emitter; a processor operatively connected to the X-ray emitter and to the X-ray sensitive camera, said processor being configured to: control the emission of X-rays from said X-ray emitter; to capture at least one X-ray image of said conveyor belt from said X-ray sensitive camera in response to the emission of X-rays from said X-ray emitter; to compare said at least one image captured with a reference image; and to determine whether said conveyor belt presents at least one fault as a result of said comparison; where said reference image is obtained from an encoding model executed by said processor, said encoding model being obtained by means of the use of an artificial neural network trained with X-ray images of conveyor belts in both good and faulty condition.

Abstract

The invention relates to a system and method for monitoring and controlling irrigation faults in leaching piles, comprising: a thermographic vision system and a visible spectrum vision system which capture images on areas of the leaching piles; an orientation system which selectively directs the capture lens of the thermographic vision and visible spectrum systems; a meteorological system which measures meteorological variables close to the leaching pile; a processing system which interacts with the thermographic vision and visible spectrum systems and with the meteorological system, processing information and, from the captured images, identifying the levels of moisture in pre-determined areas; and a user interface which displays the information processed by the processing system and allows the user to control variables of the thermographic vision and visible spectrum systems and of the orientation system.

Abstract

The present invention describes a method to evaluate quantitatively the wear level of a conveyor belt, detect perforations and tearing on its surface and predict the appearance of failures. The proposed method ensures a quantitative evaluation of the physical characteristics of the conveyor belt, particularly but not limited to the evaluation of the length and width of said conveyor belt, for which continuous functions in time are determined. Furthermore, the method comprises procedures to automatically detect sudden events such as the appearance of perforations and tearing caused by sharp edged rocks or any other cutting element capable of causing this type of failures.
