Abstract
A human-electric hybrid powertrain with a continuously variable transmission achieved with the use of a bevel planetary gearset. Two electric motors are utilized to produce a hybrid powertrain with either a driveshaft, chain, or belt driveline. The electric motors combine to produce an infinitely variable range of gear ratios and power assistance to the operator.
IPC Classes ?
- B62M 6/55 - Rider propelled cycles with auxiliary electric motor power-driven at crank shafts parts
- B62M 11/14 - Transmissions characterised by use of interengaging toothed wheels or frictionally-engaging wheels of changeable ratio with planetary gears
- B62M 11/18 - Transmissions characterised by use of interengaging toothed wheels or frictionally-engaging wheels of changeable ratio with planetary gears with a plurality of planetary gear units

Abstract
A human-electric hybrid powertrain controller for a continuously variable transmission achieved with the use of an epicyclic gear set. The controller (56) makes use of relationships between the ratio motor (26), assist motor (28) and rider input to eliminate the need for expensive and complex rider torque sensors and rider cadence/speed sensors. The control of the two electric motors (26, 28) can produce smooth mixed rider and electric power in a variety of control schemes to suit various pedal assist vehicle applications.
IPC Classes ?

- B62M 6/55 - Rider propelled cycles with auxiliary electric motor power-driven at crank shafts parts
- B62M 11/10 - Transmissions characterised by use of interengaging toothed wheels or frictionally-engaging wheels of changeable ratio with bevel gear wheels
- B62M 11/14 - Transmissions characterised by use of interengaging toothed wheels or frictionally-engaging wheels of changeable ratio with planetary gears
- B62M 17/00 - Transmissions characterised by use of rotary shaft, e.g. cardan shaft

Abstract
A human-electric hybrid powertrain (20; 520; 620; 720) with a continuously variable transmission achieved with the use of a bevel planetary gearset (24). Two electric motors (26, 28; 526, 528) are utilized to produce a hybrid powertrain with either a driveshaft, chain, or belt driveline. The electric motors combine to produce an infinitely variable range of gear ratios and power assistance to the operator.

Abstract
A gear drives with an additional floating rolling element may facilitate rolling friction and eliminates sliding friction. The floating rolling element is compressed between two gear teeth during meshing. This arrangement creates a gear drive of very high efficiency that is applicable to linear, circular, and conical gear drives through a wide range of gear ratios.

- F16H 1/24 - Toothed gearings for conveying rotary motion without gears having orbital motion involving gears essentially having intermeshing elements other than involute or cycloidal teeth
- F16H 1/04 - Toothed gearings for conveying rotary motion without gears having orbital motion involving only two intermeshing members
- F16H 1/12 - Toothed gearings for conveying rotary motion without gears having orbital motion involving only two intermeshing members with non-parallel axes
