Abstract

A breast pump shaped at least in part to fit inside a bra and comprising a housing including an aggregate, a breast shield element including a nipple tunnel adapted to receive a nipple, and a milk container adapted to contain a predetermined amount of expressed milk, wherein the breast shield element and the milk container are detachable from the housing. The present invention proposes an aggregate including a piston adapted to reciprocate within the housing, which piston moves the membrane. In the method expressed milk flows from a nipple chamber, which when the breast shield element is laid against a breast is defined in the nipple tunnel between a free end of the nipple tunnel and the breast, through the milk outlet valve into the pumping chamber and from the pumping chamber through the container valve into the milk chamber.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a motor-driven suction pump and a method for connecting such a pump. The suction pump has a pump unit for generating a negative pressure which is accommodated in a housing. Further, a terminal box is provided which can be connected to a power source via a connecting cable and has contact elements for supplying the pump unit with a power current. The contact elements are electrically conductively connected to the contact counter elements provided on the housing side and leading to the pump unit when the terminal box is coupled to the housing. In order to increase electrical safety, a sensor, an evaluation unit, and a switch are provided. The sensor is configured to check the coupling of the terminal box. The switch switches a power supply to at least one of the contact elements. The evaluation unit is data-based connected to the sensor and the switch such that the switch connects the contact element to the power current supply when a signal of the sensor confirming the coupling is present and disconnects the power current supply when a signal of the sensor confirming the coupling is absent. In the method according to the invention, at least one contact element which is switched off is first electrically connected to the counter contact element on the housing side, which is provided for supplying current to the pump unit. The power current is then applied to the contact element on the basis of a signal confirming the corresponding contacting.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a conveying device for body fluid comprising a catheter tube (2) having a distal end (4) to be inserted into the body and a proximal end (6). In order to provide a conveying device which can no longer become clogged with coagulating substances, the present invention proposes a hollow body (14) which is arranged longitudinally moveable and/or rotatable in the catheter tube (2), extends from the distal end (4) at least up to the proximal end (6), and forms a transport channel (16) over its length extending in the extension direction of the catheter tube (2).

Abstract

A breast shield (10) for expressing human breast milk. The breast shield (10) comprises an outer housing (12) and a flexible inner liner (14) within the outer housing (12). In use, with the breast shield (10) applied to a breast, the inner liner (14) is in contact with the surface of both the areola and nipple of the breast. The breast shield further comprises an outer chamber (20) between the outer housing (12) and the inner liner (14) and an inner chamber (18) within the inner liner (14). In use, the inner and outer chambers (18, 20) are subjectable to differential pressure and the differential pressure is operable to cause the inner liner (14) to exert a massaging effect against the surface of both the areola and nipple of a breast.

Abstract

A method for operating a breastpump unit (10) for expression of human breastmilk and a breastpump unit (10). The breastpump unit (10) having a pump assembly (26) for generating vacuum pressure, a reservoir (24) for receiving breastmilk, and a breast shield (11) for sealing application to a breast to be pumped. The breast shield (11) has a flexible inner chamber (15) for receiving a nipple of the breast and a second chamber (16), in particular an outer chamber extending about the outside of the inner chamber (15) and which at least partially surrounds a nipple that is inserted into the inner chamber (15). The method comprising a cycle that comprising evacuating the inner chamber (15) and the reservoir (24) by the pump assembly (26) to a first vacuum pressure, connecting the second chamber (16) to the pump assembly (26) and to the reservoir (24) and evacuating the second chamber (16) to a second vacuum pressure, in which the second vacuum pressure is higher or greater than the first vacuum pressure, and at least partly releasing the vacuum from the second chamber (16) to a lower vacuum pressure, in particular lower than the first vacuum pressure.
