Abstract

An adjustment unit for an indirect vision system is indicated, which comprises a first and a second component connected to a support structure of an indirect vision system by as little connecting elements as possible. The interface of the adjustment unit to the support structure is to be able to withstand robust mechanical requirements in a small installation space. Due to the second component including a pressure distribution element which extends transversely to a longitudinal direction of the main connecting member, and due to the fact that pressure is applied to the pressure distribution element by the main connecting element, the forces introduced and centrally acting on the pressure distribution element and thus on the second component are equally distributed in a direction transverse to the main connecting element. Traction with the support structure therefore is no longer performed centrally, but spreaded over a transverse extension of the second component. As a result, dimensional changes due to aging—creep behavior of plastics—can be compensated and distortion of the individual components is reduced.

Abstract

A device for monitoring vehicles surroundings includes a sensor, a sensor holder and a fastener. Due to manufacturing tolerances, the sensor axis that passes through the head of the sensor deviates from the axis of the sensor main body. The sensor head passes into an opening in the sensor holder centered around a sensor holding axis. When the sensor is mounted into a receiver niche in the sensor holder, the sensor holding axis and the sensor axis are aligned. The fastener fastens the sensor to the sensor holder and compensates for the sensor axis deviating from the main body axis. Screws pass through bore holes in the fastener and into screw holes in the sensor holder. The bore holes have a larger diameter than do the screw holes, allowing the sensor axis to be aligned with the sensor holding axis despite the sensor axis deviating from the main body axis.

Abstract

A device for adjusting rear view mirrors includes a vehicle-side first element and a movable second element. A reflecting surface is attached to the second element. One of the first or second elements has a concave surface, and the other element has a convex surface. The second element pivots about at least one axis that is fixed with respect to the first element. A joining slot is formed where the convex surface slides over the concave surface. One of the elements has a sealing lip that makes sliding contact with the other element and prevents foreign objects from entering the slot between the convex surface and the concave surface. The sealing lip annularly contacts either the convex surface or the concave surface. Alternatively, the concave surface is formed by a spherical shell, and the sealing lip slides over a second convex surface disposed on the shell opposite the concave surface.

Abstract

A adjusting device for a vehicular mirror directly transmits any forces exerted on the mirror between a base member and a rotating member when the mirror is not being adjusted. This permits a small electric motor to be used that can withstand only comparatively small forces exerted on the mirror while the mirror is being adjusted. The device includes the motor, a cylindrical base, a rotating member and a driven member. The mirror is adjusted when the motor drives the rotating member, and the rotating member is uncoupled from the base member. When the motor rotates the driven member, the rotating member is forced axially apart from the base member as a decoupling element on the rotating member slides up an inclined portion on the driven member. When the motor is not driving the rotating member, the rotating member is uncoupled from the motor and couples to the base member.

Abstract

An external camera device for a motor vehicle prevents condensation on the camera optics by thermally coupling the optics to an air stream from the vehicle's ventilation system. The camera optics are disposed adjacent to an optical window in a camera holder that is attached to an outer surface of the motor vehicle. A flow channel guides the air stream through the camera holder. An inlet of the flow channel is connected to the ventilation system, and the flow channel is thermally coupled to the camera optics. The device is mounted onto the vehicle through a mounting surface of the camera holder. The inlet of the flow channel passes through the mounting surface. The outlet of the flow channel can either pass through the mounting surface or exit adjacent to the optical window, in which case a fluid-guide element guides the air stream from the outlet towards the optical window.

Abstract

A novel housing for an electronic device is located in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The housing is used to maintain the temperature of the electronic device within its operating temperature range. The housing includes air inlets and outlets through which the temperature-regulated air current from the air conditioning system of the vehicle passes. The temperature-regulated air currents from the air conditioning system that are used to maintain a comfortable temperature in the passenger compartment are also used to regulate the temperature of the electronic device. Thus, the housing allows the temperature of the electronic device to be regulated exclusively using the air current from the air conditioning system. The air duct from the air conditioning system can be connected directly to the housing or can end a distance from the housing so that the air current from the duct is directed to strike the outside of the housing.

Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method by means of which the corrosion of components that are used on automobiles in particular is described and reproduced better than in the prior art. In particular, the method is characterized in that the component is additionally electrically connected to a (simulated) vehicle mass and a (simulated) battery voltage in a substantially known corrosion test such as a salt spray test such that electrochemical corrosion processes can also be induced in addition to the processes that usually occur during the salt spray test. Correspondingly, the device has electric connections in order to be able to reproduce the electric situation in the assembled state. In this manner, damage patterns can be generated that substantially match the damage patterns known from field complaints.

Abstract

Described is a clutch device (90) for transmitting rotational energy between a drive input and a drive output, in particular between an electric actuating unit (58) and an actuating element (56) of an adjustable motor vehicle exterior mirror. Here, the clutch device (90) permits a transmission of a load torque MR from the electric actuating unit (58) to the actuating element (56) in both directions, and in the event of an overload torque greater than a predefined threshold torque Mk, automatically permits a relative rotation between the electric actuating unit (58) and the actuating element (56). Furthermore, the clutch device (90) is designed such that, in the event of a torque direction reversal, no load torque is transmitted over a predetermined free travel angle φ.

Abstract

The invention relates to a retention hinge component, the overall height thereof being smaller in the direction of the retention hinge axis (13). The invention also relates to an external rearview mirror comprising said type of retention hinge component provided with a first and a second retention arm (4, 6) which are connected together in a pivotable manner by a hinge axis component (8, 10, 12). The first retention arm comprises a first and a second retention arm part (14, 18), the joining surfaces (24, 26) being assembled in a complementary manner thus allowing forces to be transmitted in a uniform manner from one retention arm to the second retention arm via the hinge axis component. A sandwich structure is produced by the two-part first retention arm, which enables, counter to the two-part retention arm cited in EP 527 455 B1 or in GB 658 679 A, force to be transferred from the retention axis component to the first retention arm via its entire surface associated with each other. Force is applied from both maintaining parts to the remaining part of both retention arm parts. As a result, forces applied to the motor vehicle external rearview mirrors are transferred in a safe manner due to the overall height of the retention hinge component being essentially reduced.
