Abstract

In the present invention, disclosed is a method for producing a grape juice for which a muscat aroma is emphasized. The method comprises, from among the following steps, a step (a) and a step (b), or step (a), step (b), and a step (c). (a) A step for obtaining skin or a juice which contains skin by crushing grapes and extracting juice from the same. (b) A step for heating a product obtained by adding water to the skin obtained in step (a) or heating the juice which includes the skin, and bringing the same to a temperature of 45-95˚C. (c) A step for, after cooling the mixture obtained in step (b), adding to the mixture an enzyme having glycosidase activity with respect to diglycoside. By using the grape juice produced by this method as a starting material, a wine having a rich muscat aroma can be produced.

Abstract

Provided is a method for producing crystals of a vitamin D derivative represented by formula (I), with which the production can be performed economically in a shorter time than the conventional methods. A crude material of the vitamin D derivative represented by formula (I) is dissolved at room temperature in a carboxylic acid (acetic acid or propionic acid), wherein 10 to 50 ml of the carboxylic acid is used per gram of the crude material, and further an appropriate poor solvent (a hydrocarbon or water) is added thereto, thereby depositing crystals of the vitamin D derivative. Subsequently, the deposited crystals are filtered off and dried, thereby obtaining high-purity crystals of the vitamin D derivative. The target crystals can be obtained in high yield in a shorter time than the conventional methods.

Abstract

Disclosed is a grape sap containing a large amount of resveratrol (3,5,4-trihydroxystilbene) whose many physiological activities and effects are known. A grape sap containing a large amount of resveratrol is produced by irradiating a branch of a grape tree with a proper dose of ultraviolet ray for a short period with an ultraviolet ray lamp or the like, and subsequently pruning the branch of the grape tree. The grape sap containing a large amount of resveratrol thus produced can be used as a raw material for a cosmetic, or can be used in a cosmetic without any modification.

Abstract

A process for producing a 12-membered-ring macrolide compound which is expected to be a preventive or therapeutic agent for solid tumors, etc. Also provided is an intermediate for the compound. The process comprises acetalizing the 6- and 7-position hydroxy groups of a raw-material 12-membered-ring macrolide compound with a dialkyltin(IV) oxide and then reacting the resultant compound with a carbamoyl halide derivative. Thus, a target 7-position urethane derivative of the 12-membered-ring macrolide compound is efficiently produced without the need of protecting the hydroxy groups in the other positions.

Abstract

Disclosed is a means for improving the poor conversion efficiency in a bioconversion system using an E. coli cell having a bacterium-derived cytochrome P-450 gene integrated therein. A recombinant E. coli cell is produced by integrating genes aciB and aciB both encoding an electron transfer system derived from Acinetobacter sp. strain OC4 into an E coli cell, and adding a polynucleotide encoding an N-terminal sequence composed of 48 amino acid residues of AciA to the 5'-terminus of a bacterium-derived cytochrome P-450 gene, wherein AciA is an alkane-oxidized cytochrome P-450 derived from Acinetobacter sp. strain OC4. By using the recombinant E. coli cell in bioconversion, it becomes possible to convert a hydrophobic or amphipathic substrate compound into a desired compound with extremely high efficiency.

Abstract

Disclosed is a means for improving the poor conversion efficiency in a conventional bioconversion using a transformant having a gene derived from a heterogeneous organism integrated therein. A microorganism having the deletion of a gene encoding a multidrug efflux protein is used as a host to produce a transformant having a gene derived from a heterogeneous organism integrated therein. By using the transformant in bioconversion, it becomes possible to convert a hydrophobic or amphipathic substrate compound into a desired compound with extremely high efficiency. When an E. coli cell is used as a host, the gene encoding multidrug efflux protein to be deleted may be tolC, acrA, acrB or the like.

Abstract

A cyclovitamin D derivative produced from 25-hydroxyvitamin D is reacted with osmium tetraoxide or a permanganic acid salt to produce a 10,19-diolcyclovitamin D derivative. The 10,19-diolcyclovitamin D derivative is reacted with a perhalogenic acid salt or lead tetraacetate to produce a 10-oxocyclovitamin D derivative. A 1-hydroxycyclovitamin D derivative is produced from the 10-oxocyclovitamin D derivative via a cyclovitamin D derivative and a 1,10-olefincyclovitamin D derivative. The 1-hydroxycyclovitamin D derivative is subjected to solvolysis, thereby producing a 1-hydroxy-19-norvitamin D derivative. Thus, provided are: a novel process for producing a 1-hydroxy-19-norvitamin D derivative which can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of a 1-hydroxy-19-norvitamin D derivative which is useful as a pharmaceutical agent; and an intermediate for the production.

Abstract

A vitamin D3 hydroxylase is purified from a cultured Pseudonocardia autotrophica cell, and a primer is designed based on the information on amino acid sequence for the hydroxylase. Subsequently, PCR is conducted using genomic DNA of Pseudonocardia autotrophica as a template to clone a gene for the vitamin D3 hydroxylase. By conducting a conversion reaction using a microorganism in which the gene is expressed using a proper expression system, a hydroxide of vitamin D or the like (e.g., hydroxy vitamin D3) can be produced with high efficiency.

Abstract

An object is to establish a process for production of a novel polysaccharide from a cassis polysaccharide (CAPS), wherein the novel polysaccharide can show a higher immunomodulating effect per unit amount, has a low viscosity, and can be handled readily during the process for producing a final product. Another object is to provide a health beverage/food having high safety and an excellent immunomodulating effect at a low cost by utilizing a juice, a processed juice or a purified product. Thus, disclosed is a composition mainly comprising a novel polysaccharide having an average molecular weight of about 10,000 to 40,000, wherein the polysaccharide is produced by a restrictive and partial enzymatic digestion of a CAPS. Also disclosed is an immunomodulating beverage/food using the composition.

Abstract

An indene derivative can be used as an intermediated for the synthesis of a vitamin D2 derivative paricalcitol which is useful as a pharmaceutical. The indene derivative can be produced with high efficiency by subjecting a vitamin D2 derivative such as 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 to a two-stage oxidation reaction in a proper solvent such as methanol and ethanol using an oxidizing agent such as potassium permanganate and sodium periodate.
