Abstract

In the disclosed power conversion method, power supplied by a secondary battery (E1) is converted to first electrostatic energy by a MERS (101). Then, the first electrostatic energy is converted to magnetic energy by an inductor (Lm). Next, the magnetic energy is converted to second electrostatic energy by a MERS (102). The second electrostatic energy is supplied to a secondary battery (E2). Power is thus supplied from one secondary battery (E1) to another secondary battery (E2).

Abstract

With regard to a device for supplying power from an MERS (magnetic energy regeneration switch) (100) connected to a power source (VS), the load current flowing from the MERS (100) to a load is detected by means of a current detecting unit (300a). For the purpose of forming a path to begin charging the capacitor (CM) of the MERS (100), a control unit (400) determines, on the basis of the detected load current, the timing for turning off the reverse-conducting type semiconductor switch of the MERS (100). The control unit (400) controls the maximum value of the voltage between both terminals of the capacitor (CM) by turning off the reverse-conducting type semiconductor switch of the MERS (100) at the determined target timing.

Abstract

Provided is a protected power conversion device (1) that is connected between a DC current source (2) and an inductive load (3) and comprises a full-bridge MERS (100), a control circuit (200), and an ammeter (300). The ammeter (300) measures the current supplied to the inductive load (3). The control circuit (200) converts the power outputted from the DC current source (2) into AC power by means of four reverse-conducting semiconductor switches (SW1 to SW4) in the full-bridge MERS (100), and supplies said AC power to the inductive load (3). If a large current flows, such as due to a short-circuit fault in the inductive load (3), and the current measured by the ammeter (300) reaches or exceeds a prescribed value, the control circuit (200) turns off all of the reverse-conducting semiconductor switches (SW1 to SW4), thereby shutting off the flow of current.

Abstract

The voltage waveform and current waveform of the AC power to be outputted are controlled by: varying the period of time an ON signal of a gate-control signal, which makes an inverse-electrical-connection semiconductor switch constituting a magnetic-energy regeneration switch turn ON/OFF, is to be continued, within a range of time equal to or more than the minimum time necessary for a capacitor (C) to discharge and the voltage between both ends of the capacitor (C) becomes approximately zero (V); and varying the switching frequency of the ON/OFF of the inverse-electrical-connection semiconductor switch, within a range equal to or less than the resonant frequency that is decided by the capacitance of the capacitor and the inductance of the resonant inductor (5). Furthermore, the obtainable electric power can be increased, by having a DC current supply that supplies electric power to a power conversion device, connected via a diode.

Abstract

This power supply system (100) supplies electric power from a plurality of wind power generators (G21)-(G23) with big generation fluctuations to electric chargers (81)-(83) as contracted electric power consumption sources that allow a plurality of supplied electric power components to fluctuate. An electric power supply distribution means (73) distributes electric power with big fluctuations generated by the wind power generators (G21)-(G23) to each contracted electric power consumption source so as to satisfy both “a contracted short time fluctuation allowance rate” and “a contracted long time fluctuation allowance rate” that are agreed with a manager of each contracted electric power consumption source, changes a gate phase of a magnetic energy regeneration switch (MERS) (30) connected with each contracted electric power consumption source, and adjusts an electric power consumption amount of each contracted electric power consumption source, thereby carrying out “generated electric power amount following consumption”.

Abstract

An object of this power converting apparatus is to stabilize the voltage by using an AC current advance control in a case of being connected to a weak-power system and to perform a maximum charging within the range of a power-receiving contract. A power conversion from AC or DC to DC and an inverse conversion are performed by using a magnetic energy regenerative switch in which a magnetic energy storage capacitor having a small capacitance is connected to a DC terminal of a bridge circuit using at least two reverse-conducting semiconductor switches. The DC parts of a plurality of secondary battery charging apparatuses each using this power converting apparatus are connected to each other by use of a common DC bus so that power can be interchanged between those secondary battery charging apparatuses.

Abstract

An adaptor with a dimming function has a load power adjustment switch for adjusting load power to be supplied from a power source to an illumination lamp for lighting the illumination lamp and a dimming control part for controlling the load power adjustment switch, and is connected between a socket connected electrically with the power source and the illumination lamp. The load power adjustment switch has two or more reverse conducting type semiconductor switches and capacitors for accumulating the magnetic energy of a current when the current is interrupted and regenerates the magnetic energy to the illumination lamp. Thus, the load power adjustment switch controls the gate phase of the reverse conducting type semiconductor switches to adjust the load power to be supplied to the illumination lamp.

Abstract

Provided is a magnetic energy regenerating switch (MERS) comprising a voltage detecting unit for detecting the condenser voltage of the MERS so as to protect the MERS against an excessive voltage and an excessive current, and a control unit for turning on the switch of a discharge circuit connected in parallel with a condenser, when the output of the voltage detecting unit exceeds a predetermined value, thereby to discharge electric charge of the condenser. Moreover, a current detecting unit for detecting the electric current to flow through the load is inserted between an AC power source and the load, so that the duty ratio of the ON/OFF of the pulses of the gate control signal of the switch of the MERS is made less than 0.5, when the output of the current detecting unit exceeds a predetermined value, thereby to perform a current-limiting control.
