Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a process of preparing fuel additive composition. 2- Mercaptobenzimidazole and a dialkylamine are mixed in at least one fluid medium followed by addition of formaldehyde and stirring the reaction at a temperature in the range of 50 °C to 100 °C to obtain a slurry comprising a compound of formula (II) and the fluid medium. R is at least one selected from C1-C15 straight chain, branched chain and cyclic alkyl groups, C1-C15 straight chain, branched chain and cyclic hydroxyl-alkyl groups and C1-C15 substituted or unsubstituted aromatic, heteroaromatic, bridged ring and alkyl aromatic groups. The slurry is dehydrated to obtain the fuel additive composition. The fuel additive is prepared by a simple and economic process in high yield with high purity. The fuel additive of the present disclosure is eco-friendly and acts as a silver corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract

The present invention provides a water soluble biodegradable polymer and a process for preparation thereof. The polymer has characteristic NMR and FTIR peaks. The polymer is prepared by a process which comprises making a mixture of phosphatides and triglycerides, reacting the mixture with an anhydride in an organic solvent in presence of a catalyst at an elevated temperature for a duration ranging from one to three hours to obtain a reaction product, further hydrolyzing the reaction product, thereafter separating the solvent from the reaction product to obtain a mass, furthermore adding a second monomer with a catalyst to the mass, further curing the mass under stirring at reflux temperature for one to three hours, thereafter cooling the cured mass and neutralizing it with caustic lye to obtain the polymer. The polymer obtained by above mentioned process is biodegradable and has high calcium sequestration and calcium salt inhibition properties suitable as an additive for detergents and water treatment applications.
