Abstract

Disclosed is a photocatalytic coating material which can form a coated surface with strong hydrophobic tendencies, and wherein the coating material is resistant to affect even when the photocatalyst is excited. The photocatalytic coating material is prepared by dispersing or dissolving in a solvent at least: a photocatalyst; polytetrafluoroethylene graft polymerised with sulfonic acid; and a compound containing a metal ion with an ion radius equal to or greater than the ion radius of a calcium ion, and/or a complex ion with an ion radius equal to or greater than that of a calcium ion. Further, the compound containing a metal ion is either a hydroxide or has had an electrically neutral surfactant added thereto.
