Abstract

According to a first aspect, there is provided a flushing apparatus for a siphon discharge cistern. The flushing apparatus is arrangeable in use to initiate siphonic discharge from the siphon discharge cistern in response to activation of a flush initiation mechanism (8). The flushing apparatus comprises a lever arm (2) and the flush initiation mechanism (8). The lever arm (2) is connected to a return float (3) and a counterbalance (1), wherein the lever arm (2) is movable about a pivot (9) and connectable to a siphon (10) at a first side of the pivot (9), with the return float (3) and the counterbalance (1) at a second side of the pivot (9). The flush initiation mechanism (8) is configured to move the lever arm (2) about the pivot (9) from a resting position to a flushing position to thereby operate the siphon (10) to initiate siphonic discharge. The return float (3) is configured to provide a buoyancy force against the moment of the counterbalance (1) to return the lever arm (2) to the resting position after siphonic discharge has taken place. In the resting position, a combined moment of the counterbalance (1) and the return float (3) about the pivot (9) enables a force required to move the lever arm (2) to be within the range of activation of the flush initiation mechanism (8).

Abstract

A replacement nut (100) for replacing a WC flush valve (10) or siphon without dismounting an existing nut (200), the nut (100) comprising a first portion (101) and a second portion (102) and a connector (103) connecting the first portion (101) and the second portion (102). The nut (100) has a first configuration and a second configuration. In the second configuration the first portion (101) is angled to the second portion (102), such that the effective outer diameter of the replacement nut (100) in the second configuration is smaller than the effective outer diameter of the nut (100) in the first configuration, for threading the replacement nut (100) through the existing nut (200).
