Abstract

The present invention provides a motorised door lock assembly 10 in order for a user to be able to lock and unlock a door remotely and/or with a conventional key or with a thumb turn 22 from the inside. In particular, a user may decide to continue to use a key from the outside and the thumb turn (or an internal key mechanism) from the inside but at any stage the user (or a different user) may decide to operate the lock remotely. The motorised system may be activated by a number of actuators and, in particular, the motorised system may be activated by a remote key fob, a smart phone, an internally mounted push button or an external key pad. The assembly of the present invention is able to provide a continuous choice of all three methods (where permitted) without the risk of the lock becoming stuck in one position and without the user having to perform an elaborate particular sequence to operate the lock. The present invention is particularly for use with a Euro cylinder lock combined with a multipoint locking system 14 which thereby has operating limitations. The remotely activated motorised mechanism comprises a motor 50, a worm gear 52, a driven gear 54, rotary locking spindle engagement means 30 to transmit movement of the motor 50 to a rotary locking spindle of the cylinder lock, and a remote control actuator, the remotely activated motorised mechanism further comprising a multipoint monitoring system to determine an operational status of the multipoint locking mechanism and a rotary lock bolt monitoring system to determine an operational status of the lock bolt; and wherein the rotary locking spindle engagement means is arranged to directly engage a component of a thumb turn mechanism of a door lock.

Abstract

The present invention provides a motorised door lock assembly (10) in order for a user to be able to lock and unlock a door remotely and/or with a conventional key or with a thumb turn (22) from the inside. The remotely activated motorised mechanism comprises a motor (50), a worm gear (52), a driven gear (54), rotary locking spindle engagement means (30) to transmit movement of the motor (50) to a rotary locking spindle of the cylinder lock, and a remote control actuator, the remotely activated motorised mechanism further comprising a multipoint monitoring system to determine an operational status of the multipoint locking mechanism and a rotary lock bolt monitoring system to determine an operational status of the lock bolt; and wherein the rotary locking spindle engagement means is arranged to directly engage a component of a thumb turn mechanism of a door lock.

Abstract

The cross joint millingmachine (10) is arranged to cut frame members for use with glazing products and in particular for window/door glazing panels. The frame members comprise Georgian bars, astragal bars and other glazing bars/elements. The cross joint milling machine (10) is arranged to cut a first bevel section (22) and a second bevel section (24) within a frame member (20) which acts as a work piece in the machine arrangement. The cross joint milling machine (10) is also arranged to cut a groove (26) extending between the first bevel section (22) and the second bevel section (24). The interconnecting groove (26) is either cut on the rear face (32) of the frame member (20) or the front face (30) of the frame member (20) and partially extends through the depth of the frame member (20). In particular, this groove cut may extend half way through the depth of the frame member (20). Accordingly, in one pair of intersecting frame members (20, 40), a first frame member (20) has a groove (26) cut in to the front face (30) whilst the second frame member (40) has a groove (46) in to the rear face (50).The cross joint milling machine (10) is portable and can be easily transported by a user and hence used on site at an assembly location. Accordingly, this portability enables a user to quickly and easily and accurately produce crossjoints in frame members at the assembly location.

Abstract

The present invention provides a window status sensor system which may be of particular use with a casement window of a domestic property. The window status sensor system may cooperate with or may be integrated into a home automation system. The present invention provides a window status sensor system which provides positive feedback on the status of the actual locking mechanism and the position of the locking rod 18. In particular, the present invention provides a signal concerning the position of the locking rod 18 and the associated locking lugs 20. Accordingly, a user will know that the window 10 is actually locked rather than being merely in a closed position. The window status sensor system detects and monitors the actual position of the locking rod 18 rather than merely monitoring the position of the window sash 14 and/or the locking handle 16 etc. Accordingly, this feedback provides positive reassurance that the locking lugs 20 are actually in an engaged/locked position.

The present invention provides a restrictor for restricting the opening of the casement window beyond a predetermined distance. In particular, the present invention is arranged to enable a user to wind the handle 48 until the casement window reaches the predetermined distance. The restrictor is automatically reset once the casement window is moved back or towards the closed position such that the casement window is within the predetermined restricted initial opening distance.

Abstract

The window restrictor (10) of the present invention may be used to limit the opening of a casement hinged window. The restrictor (10) comprises a restrictor member (12) and a latch mechanism (14). Typically, the restrictor member (12) is attached to a stile or rail (16) of the moving window pane and the latch mechanism (14) is attached to a part of the casing or frame 18 surrounding the window opening. In use, the restrictor member (12) is engaged with the latch mechanism (14) so that as the window is opened, the extent of opening is restricted by the length of the restrictor member (12). To fully open the window, the restrictor member (12) must be disengaged from the latch mechanism (14). When the restrictor member (12) and latch mechanism (14) are disengaged, they remain in such a configuration that, when the window is closed, the restrictor member (12) and latch mechanism (14) automatically re-engage to prevent the window being fully opened again. This means that it is not necessary to remember to reattach or reset the restrictor (10) each time the window is opened and closed. In addition, the restrictor member (12) comprises a hinged member which includes bias means which urges the restrictor member to lie adjacent to and flush with the window pane in the fully opened and disengaged position.

Abstract

A sash window restrictor (20) has a housing (22) which is to be let into a vertical frame member (10) of one sash (normally the upper, outer sash) of a window, at a position, say, 10 cm above the top rail of the lower sash when the windows are closed. A tab (24) is mounted in the housing and can be retracted into the housing or extended from the housing. A mechanism acts between the tab and the housing and allows the tab to be pressed into the housing and held in the housing for a period of time before the tab is released to allow the tab to extend. With the tab extended, the lower sash (12) can be lifted until it reaches the tab (24) but no further, so that a 10 cm gap will be opened at the bottom of the window.

Abstract

A sash window has a frame (10) in which stepped window sashes (12, 14) can move up and down. The frame has plastics extrusions (24) in the vertical stiles which carry the window lifters and the guides for the vertical movement. The extrusions (24) are clad on the inside and on the outside with wooden claddings (26, 28), and the faces of the extrusions facing into the frame are also provided with wooden mouldings (42, 44) which snap into resilient fingers (40) in the extrusions, to cover those parts of the extrusions which would otherwise be visible from the inside of the building when the window is closed. Weatherstrips (38) are also snap-fitted into the extrusions.
