Abstract

This invention relates to heterocyclic red azo colorants for seed treatment applications. The red azo colorants contain a heterocycle that includes one nitrogen atom and one sulfur atom and are free from electron-withdrawing groups on the heterocycle. Seeds for use in horticultural/agriculture applications that are coated with the heterocyclic azo colorants provide anti-counterfeiting properties to the coated seeds. A color change phenomenon is observed when the coated seeds are exposed to an acidic material, such as vinegar, and provides evidence of the authenticity of the coated seeds. The invention also relates to agricultural formulations containing the heterocyclic red azo colorants that can be used as an anti-counterfeit agents.

Abstract

A polymer composition comprises a polyolefin polymer and a salt of cyclopentylphosphonic acid. The polyolefin polymer can be a polypropylene polymer or a polyethylene polymer. The polymer composition exhibits fast crystallization rates, making it suitable for use in the production of thin articles with low haze levels. Polymer compositions containing a polyethylene polymer can exhibit preferential transverse direction crystalline lamellae growth, which is a desirable orientation in films and circular, center-gated injection molded parts.

Abstract

A method of forming an insulated composite fabric including attaching an insulating-filler fabric layer to an outer fabric layer, where the insulating-filler fabric layer is a textile fabric with at least one raised surface on the fabric. One side of the insulating-filler layer has a first surface with relatively high pile, including regions of no pile or relatively low pile interspersed among regions of relatively high pile and the other side of the insulating-filler layer has a second surface with relatively high pile, including regions of no pile or relatively low pile interspersed among regions of relatively high pile. Abstract

An composition comprises a first component and one or more calcium cis-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate salts. The first component is selected from thermoplastic polymers, waxes, and mixtures thereof. 25 mol. % or more of the calcium cis-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate salts present in the composition are calcium cis-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate monohydrate. A method for producing a polymer composition entails mixing the composition with a polyolefin polymer, melting the resulting admixture, and letting the admixture solidify to produce a polymer composition.

Abstract

A method for making a polymer composition comprises the steps of providing a heterophasic thermoplastic polymer composition, providing a compatibilizing agent, providing a peroxide compound, and mixing and melting the heterophasic thermoplastic polymer composition, compatibilizing agent, and peroxide compound. The compatibilizing agent comprises an ester compound formally derived from a polyol comprising three or more hydroxy groups and an aliphatic carboxylic acid comprising one or more carbon-carbon double bonds. A modified polymer composition comprises a heterophasic thermoplastic polymer composition and a compatibilizing agent. The modified polymer composition has an ethylene discontinuous phase present in the form of discrete particles in a propylene continuous phase. The discrete particles of the ethylene discontinuous phase are present in the modified polymer composition in a concentration of 2.1 or more particles per cubic micron.

Abstract

This invention relates to multi-branched block copolymers suitable for use as wetting agents. The multi-branched block copolymers are comprised of an oxygen-containing polyfunctional base compound having at least 3 EO/PO block copolymer branches attached thereto. The improvement lies in: (a) the percent hydrophobic component, as defined as the weight % PO in the molecule, being present in an amount from 40% to 60% by weight and in (b) the molecular weight per branch (or arm), as defined as the total number average molecular weight of the polymer divided by the functionality of the base being greater than 1700 gmol-1arm-1. It was surprisingly discovered that this combination of intermediate hydrophobicity and high molecular weight give superior drought tolerance for plants treated therewith.

Abstract

This invention relates to end-modified branched block copolymers for soil treatment applications. The end-modified branched block copolymers contain an alkoxylated block copolymer modified with a hydrophobic end group such as an alkysuccinic acid ester, a fatty acid ester, or an ether. Soils treated with these copolymers exhibit improved soil water penetration properties with enhanced atmospheric moisture absorption and provide overall healthier turf and/or plants contained therein.

Abstract

A thermal camouflage garment containing at least two zones, each zone containing a thermal camouflage fabric. The camouflage fabrics each contain a printed layer. In at least 90% of the wavelengths between 400-700 nm at least one of the first, second, and third color deltas are less than about 10 percentage points, and wherein at 1 μm and 2 μm and the average over 3-5 μm, average over 8-12 μm the first, at least one of the first, second, and third color deltas are greater than about 15 percentage points. The first zone makes up at least about 10% of the outer surface area of the thermal camouflage garment and the second zone makes up at least about 10% of the outer surface area of the thermal camouflage garment.

Abstract

This invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles that are washable in commercial, industrial, and/or residential washing machines. In particular, this invention relates to modular carpet tiles that are constructed in such a way as to withstand exposure to at least one wash cycle in an automatic washing machine. The carpet tiles are designed to be soiled, washed, and re-used, thereby providing ideal end-use applications such as entryway floorcovering articles. A further advantage includes the ability to print advertising logos on the carpet tiles and easily change out the advertising logos as desired. Both features of the carpet tile of the present invention are achievable, at least in part, because the surface of the tile that contacts the floor does not require any type of adhesive in order to use the carpet tile for its intended function.

Abstract

An arc resistant fabric containing a plurality of first yarns disposed in a first direction in the fabric and a plurality of second yarns disposed in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction forming a woven pattern. The first and second yarns contain non-FR cellulosic fibers, modacrylic fibers, and aramid fibers intimately blended together. The woven fabric has a sateen weave. The arc resistant fabric has a weight less than about 6 oz/yd2, an arc thermal protective value (atpv) of least about 8.0 cal/cm2, and a greater thickness than a fabric using the same yarns in a plain weave.

IPC Classes  ?
