Abstract
in vivoTrypanosoma rangeliTrypanosoma rangeli, a nonpathogenic microorganism may be purposefully engineered, altered, and designed to be a blood symbiont in humans and animals after genetic modification to express foreign nucleic acid sequences that encode proteins, polynucleotides, and/or pathways to treat disease or enhance specific aspects of host physiology to include metabolic dominance to correct or augment homeostatic imbalances when suitable. The foreign nucleic acid sequences may be used to generate enzymes, scavenger molecules, peptides and hormones, antibodies, nanobodies, signaling ligands, and other therapeutic or novel synthetic agents.
