Abstract

A system and method for visually assisting an operator of an ultrasound system are provided. In an aspect, the method involves receiving imaging data of an anatomical region using a first coordinate system, the imaging data marked with a landmark for identifying the anatomical region; transforming the imaging data of the anatomical region from the coordinate system to a cylindrical coordinate system; displaying a live ultrasound image of the anatomical region as received from an ultrasound transducer; receiving positional information from the ultrasound transducer corresponding to an alignment point of the anatomical region; and displaying a transformed image from the transformed imaging data of the anatomical region corresponding to the alignment point using the landmark; wherein the transformed image and the live ultrasound image are displayed simultaneously. In another aspect, the method involves generating and transforming a 3D model of the first anatomical regions.

Abstract

A high torque active mechanism for an orthotic and/or prosthetic joint using a primary brake which can be provide by magnetorheological (MR) rotational damper incorporating and an additional friction brake mechanism driven by the braking force generated by the MR damper. This combination of MR damper and friction brake mechanism allows an increase in torque density while keeping the same level of motion control offered by the MR damper alone. The increased torque density achieved by this high torque active mechanism allows to minimize the size of the actuating system, i.e. its diameter and/or breath, while maximizing its braking torque capability. In this regard, the friction brake mechanism is advantageously positioned around the MR damper, such that the dimension of the package is minimized.

The device restores the normal capabilities and natural dynamics of a healthy joint for common activities. The compliant transmission assembly includes a compliant element. The present invention discloses locomotion simulator comprising a base having a surface movable along a base axis, a post mounted to the base a pelvic structure and a hip-thigh mechanism wherein coordinated displacement of the pelvic structure and pivoting of the thigh segment assembly simulates patterns of locomotion. Abstract

A method and a control system are used for determining a portion of locomotion and a phase of locomotion portion in view of controlling an actuated prosthesis in real time.
