Abstract

Provided is a method which comprises developing a high-expression promoter of Pseudozyma antarctica, constructing a heterologous protein production system with the use of the obtained high-expression promoter, and then efficiently producing an enzyme using a strain belonging to the order Ustilaginales including a yeast of the genus Pseudozyma. The heterologous protein production method according to the present invention comprises: a step for culturing host cells, which have been transformed with an expression vector that contains a base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:7 and a base sequence, said base sequence encoding a heterologous protein, functionally bound thereto, under such conditions as allowing the expression of the heterologous protein; and a step for harvesting the heterologous protein from a liquid culture medium.

Abstract

A multifunctional formed object containing an adsorbent for hazardous substances is provided in the form of a water-soluble sheet or tablet. The formed object comprises a hazardous-substance-adsorbing formed object having a multiple function imparted thereto, and can be applied to a contaminated environment while preventing a fine powder from flying off or causing dust explosion and without necessitating much labor. After application, the formed object adsorptively fixes thereto a hazardous substance present in the contaminated environment. The hazardous-substance-adsorbing formed object, to which a hazardous substance is adsorptively fixed in a contaminated environment, e.g., a soil, is produced from a plurality of raw-material ingredients, one of which is a powdery adsorbent for hazardous substances. The adsorbent is a porous fine powder which includes particles each having a diameter capable of passing through 200-mesh and a particle density of an average particle size of 100 µm or smaller, the proportion of the particles being more than 80% of the weight of the powder. Besides the adsorbent, an additive for imparting another function is suitably incorporated.

Abstract

A method by which a heavy metal contained in a paddy-field soil is efficiently removed to clean the soil. The method of treating a paddy-field soil containing a heavy metal is an in-situ cleaning method which comprises washing the heavy-metal-containing paddy-field soil with an aqueous solution of a chemical and then washing it with water. It is characterized in that the washing is conducted while adding the aqueous chemical solution or water so that the depth of the furrow pans from the water surface is 35 cm or more.
