Abstract

The invention relates to an electron beam welding device (1) comprising: - a cathode (2) comprising an emitting surface (9) that emits electrons; - an anode (3) having an anode hole (4), wherein a positive voltage is applied to the anode relative to the cathode so as to create an electron beam (5) from the cathode towards the anode; - a beamforming electrode (6) comprising a flared surface arranged so as to focus the electron beam emitted between the cathode and the anode, characterised in that a portion (8) of the flared surface of the beamforming electrode (6) extends behind the emitting surface (9) of the cathode in the direction of emission of the electron beam.
