The purpose of the present invention is to provide a medium, in which cells to be used for producing a cultured meat can be proliferated, by adding a food material as an additive. The present inventors cultured cells with the use of food components as additives and, consequently, found that when whey was added as a cell proliferation promoting agent, fibroblasts, adipocytes and myoblasts exhibited high proliferation ability. Thus, the present invention, which pertains to a cell proliferation medium comprising a basic medium and whey as a cell proliferation promoting agent, has been completed.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a culture medium in which cells to be used for producing a cultured meat can be grown, by adding thereto a food material as an additive. A pig rearing support apparatus includes: an acquirer configured to acquire image data of an image captured by a camera unit installed facing a pen in which sows are raised in a group; a detector configured to detect mounting behavior of the sows based on the image of the image data; and a count processor configured to count the number of times the mounting behavior is detected within a preset observation period. In order to obtain muscle tissue-derived cells for use in the production of cultured meat, it is necessary to culture proliferative myoblasts and muscle satellite cells. However, these cells easily differentiate, and have a tendency, even in normal culture conditions, to differentiate to myotube cells which are not proliferative. Here, the objective of the present invention is to identify a component that inhibits differentiation of myoblasts and muscle satellite cells in order to culture a large amount of muscle tissue-derived cells for production of cultured meat. Food components used as additives were studied for differentiation suppressing effect, and the study revealed that when whey was added, differentiation of myoblasts and muscle satellite cells was successfully suppressed, and thus a differentiation suppressing agent is provided.

The present invention provides highly effective and safe means capable of preventing or treating an egg allergy in infants. The present invention provides an improved means for extracting a protein in foods, which is capable of solving problems such as safety, speed, and reliability. The extraction reagent of the present invention is a reagent for extracting a protein in foods that includes a reducing agent and a surfactant. The reducing agent is a mercaptoalkanol and/or a sulfite, the surfactant is an alkyl sulfate, and the extraction reagent is for treatment by a shake method for from 30 minutes to 8 hours. The test kit of the present invention includes the extraction reagent and a specific antibody to a target protein for quantitatively or qualitatively detecting a target protein by an immunological measurement method.

The discovery has been made that immortalized cells derived from porcine kidney macrophages exhibit a high infection susceptibility for various pig infectious virus strains, which has made it possible to provide, inter alia, a method for growing pig infectious viruses using the cells.
Provided is a feature for accurately determining estrus of sows without relying on experience or intuition of an observer. HLA-E chimeric molecules for providing nonhuman mammalian cells resistant to cytotoxic human NK cells, nucleotide sequences encoding these chimeric molecules, and nonhuman mammalian cells and nonhuman mammals transformed with such nucleotide sequences are disclosed herein. The HLA-E chimeric molecules of the invention contain a peptide that reforms all or part of the signal peptide region, α1 domain and/or α2 domain of HLA-E, and a nucleotide sequence of the invention encodes a HLA-E chimeric molecule. A transformant incorporating a nucleotide sequence of the invention expresses HLA-E efficiently.
