Abstract

A fiber laminate sheet (10) comprising at least two layers including an upper layer base paper (1) and an underlay fiber layer (4). The upper layer base paper (1) is a synthetic fiber paper containing polyester staple fibers and polyester binder staple fibers, produced by a wet process. The constituent fibers of the base paper, although glued together by the binder staple fibers, are partially disintegrated by water stream intercrossing. The underlay fiber layer (4) is a fiber sheet of at least one member selected from among a nonwoven fabric, a nonwoven fabric web and a woven knitted fabric. The upper layer base paper (1) and underlay fiber layer (4) are laminated together so that the constituent fibers of the two layers cross each other to thereby attain an integration thereof. Accordingly, when impregnation with an elastic polymer is not effected, there can be obtained a novel fiber laminate sheet of soft texture exhibiting air permeability. On the other hand, when the impregnation is effected, there can be obtained an artificial leather of texture highly close to that of natural leather.
