A process for the generation of renewable fuel and/or biofuel from a renewable oil feedstock having a high free fatty acid content. The renewable oil feedstock can be renewable plant oil or renewable animal fat or oil, including renewable corn oil recovered from a by-product of ethanol production, such as distillers corn oil and/or corn oil solvent extracted from distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and/or distillers dried grains (DDG). The free fatty acid content of the renewable oil feedstock can be reduced by a glycerolysis process in the presence of a molar excess of glycerin to provide an adequate resulting feedstock having a reduced free fatty acid content. The resulting feedstock capable of being subjected to further processing for the generation of renewable fuel and/or biofuel.
A process for the reduction of the level of one or more mycotoxins from a co-product of bio-fuel production from fermentation of one or more grains or other biomass having fermentable sugars or starches. The one or more mycotoxins reduced from the co-product by a solvent extraction process to form distillers meal. The co-product can be distillers dried grains with solubles and/or distillers dried grains, such that the solvent extraction of the one or more mycotoxins provides distillers meal having a reduced level of the one or more mycotoxins compared to the co-product prior to the solvent extraction process. An optional washing process can also be used prior to or after the solvent extraction process to reduce mycotoxin levels. The resultant distillers meal having a reduced level of one or more mycotoxins deemed fit as an animal feed or animal feed supplement for one or more animals.

Distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS), such as DDGS from an ethanol process, can undergo a denaturing process resulting in higher measurable protein content. The denatured DDGS by product, which may include higher measurable rumen undegradable protein products or bypass proteins, can be used to produce distillers meal, which may be used as an animal feed and are able to survive the digestive process through the rumen of ruminant animals that results in more protein bioavaible to the ruminant animal in the later stages of digestion and absorption. The DDGS co-product can undergo a denaturing process to produce distillers meal having an increased rumen undegradable protein level that is about 5% to about 25% more than a rumen undegradable protein level of the distillers meal prior to the denaturing process of the DDGS co-product. Such high protein content compositions can also be used in methods for increasing nitrogen content in soil, promoting crop production, and fertilizing horticultural and/or agricultural crops.
