Abstract

The claimed invention provides an improved ladder extension system that comprises a plurality of pulleys to help reduce the drawing force needed to extend the ladder. The system also comprises an AAD to help secure the rope passed through the pulley should the rope be released or if the ladder expands or collapses too quickly. The materials and components of the pulleys and AAD have been designed to further reduce the amount of draw force required to expand the ladder, to ensure the rope does not disengage the wheels of the system, and to improve the efficiency of the energy transferred between the rope and the pulley wheels to ensure no force applied to the rope is wasted unnecessarily.

Abstract

The claimed invention provides an improved ladder extension system that comprises a plurality of pulleys to help reduce the drawing force needed to extend the ladder. The system also comprises an AAD to help secure the rope passed through the pulley should the rope be released or if the ladder expands or collapses too quickly. Further, the materials chosen for the frames of the pulleys and AAD have been designed to reduce the amount of draw force required to expand the ladder, to improve the efficiency of the energy transferred between the rope and the pulley wheels to ensure no force applied to the rope is wasted unnecessarily while maintaining sufficient strength to withstand the mass of the ladder being extended and to absorb potential impacts to the system.

The claimed invention provides an improved ladder extension system that comprises a plurality of pulleys to help reduce the drawing force needed to extend the ladder. The system also comprises an AAD to help secure the rope passed through the pulley should the rope be released or if the ladder expands or collapses too quickly. Wherein the AAD has been designed to further reduce the amount of draw force required to expand the ladder, by improving the efficiency of the energy transferred between the rope and the AAD locking mechanism by including a sheath around the system's spring to ensure no force applied to the rope is wasted unnecessarily by the spring deflecting laterally.
