Abstract

A process for manufacturing a glass bottle (11), comprising the following steps: - hot deforming a glass tube segment (1) to form a rod (7) which is closed at one end, or providing such a prefabricated rod (7), - placing the rod (7) into a mold (8) which has a mold cavity (10), - causing the rod (7) to expand in the mold by applying a pressure differential between the inside of the rod and the mold cavity outside the rod.
