Abstract

A driving tool includes a stall release lever, a debris blocking member, and a latch. The stall release lever is configured to be pivotable about a pivot axis between a home position and a release position. When a driver is in a stall position and a follower assembly is in a locked over-center position, pivotal movement of the stall release lever toward the release position forces the follower assembly toward the release over-center position in which the pinch force is released. The pivot axis is substantially parallel to a rotational axis of a flywheel and is substantially perpendicular to a drive axis of a driver. The latch, in an unlatched position, is configured to enable the debris blocking member to move from its first position to its second position to block debris in the nosepiece assembly from entering the drive assembly.

Abstract

A cordless compressor has an air storage tank, a pump for pressuring air within the air storage tank, a motor driving pump, a power tool battery pack connected to the motor, a discharge port connected to the air storage tank, and a regulator disposed between the discharge port and the air storage tank. The pump can raise the air pressure within the air storage tank from 0 psi to about 135 psi in less than 135 seconds. With such arrangement, a compressor having an air pressure within the air storage tank of 135 psi set at a 70 psi setting can power an 18 gauge nailer connected to the compressor to drive more than 1200 nails on a single battery charge.

Abstract

An impact power tool includes a transmission output shaft, a rotary impact assembly with a cam shaft, hammer, and anvil, and a tool output shaft rotatable with the anvil. A coupler removably couples the cam shaft to the transmission output shaft. When torque on the tool output shaft is less than or equal to a first threshold, the transmission output shaft, cam shaft, hammer, and anvil rotate together to transmit torque to the tool output shaft. When torque on the tool output shaft is above the first threshold, the hammer moves along the cam shaft away from the anvil by a first distance and applies rotary impacts to the anvil. When the hammer moves along the cam shaft away from the anvil by a second distance greater than the first distance, the coupler decouples the transmission output shaft from the cam shaft, interrupting torque transmission to the tool output shaft.

Abstract

A power supply apparatus is provided including a housing, at least one battery receptacle for receiving at least one removable battery pack, an inverter that converts a direct-current (DC) signal from the at least one battery pack to an alternating-current (AC) signal, and a controller that applies a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal to the inverter to shape the AC signal with a lower harmonic distortion relative to a square wave. For each full cycle of the AC signal, the controller sets the duty cycle to approximately 100% within a first period corresponding to a peak area of the AC signal, to less than approximately 100% but greater than approximately 0% within a second period in which the AC signal transitions from the peak to a zero-cross following the first period, and to 0% within a third period corresponding to the zero-cross of the AC signal following the second period.

Abstract

Disclosed herein is a portable electric power tool for bending elongate objects. The tool includes an electric motor having a motor output shaft, a bend mechanism having a support portion and a bias portion. The bias portion is operatively coupled to the motor output shaft via a transmission of the tool which in use causes linear relative movement between the bias portion and the support portion. The relative movement causes force to be applied by the bend mechanism to an elongate object in use at different locations along the length of the elongate object for bending the elongate object. The transmission includes a conversion mechanism for converting torque into a linear force for causing the linear relative movement between the bias portion and the support portion.

Abstract

A switch assembly is provided including a plunger, an elastomer member mechanically coupled to the plunger and moveable along a movement axis, and a circuit board oriented substantially perpendicularly to the movement axis. The elastomer member includes posts of varying heights including electrically conductive material. The circuit board includes conductive tracks facing the posts and electrically coupled to a resistive divider. An actuation of the plunger causes a variable number of contact points between the conductive tracks and the posts corresponding to a travel distance of the plunger along the movement axis. The resistive divider is configured to output a variable voltage signal based on the variable number of contact points.
