A refueling system for natural gas users (e.g. natural gas vehicles) includes a two-stage compression system that compresses low- pressure gas in a natural gas supply line to compressed natural gas (CNG) pressure for use by a user. A single motor (16) drives both a first stage rotary compressor (12) and a rotary hydraulic pump (14) that powers a second-stage liquid piston compressor (2). The motor (16), first stage compressor (12), and pump (14) may be co- axially aligned. Booster vessels store compressed gas to augment the system's compressed gas delivery flow rate when desired. The booster vessels may be recharged with compressed gas when the system is not delivering gas to a user. Hydraulic liquid may be pumped into and out of the booster vessels during booster vessel discharge and recharge, respectively, to maintain a desired pressure within the vessels.
Various embodiments provide an end-to-end gaseous fuel transportation solution without using physical pipelines. A virtual pipeline system and methods thereof may involve transportation of gaseous fuels including compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and/or adsorbed natural gas (ANG). An exemplary pipeline system may include a gas supply station, a mother station for treating gaseous fuels from the gas supply station, a mobile transport system for receiving and transporting the gaseous fuels, and a user site for unloading the gaseous fuels from the mobile transport system. The unloaded gaseous fuels can be further used or distributed.
An apparatus for loading and unloading compressed gas storage modules (5) to and from a trailer deck (10) includes two bilateral tracks (1) that the compressed gas storage module (5) can roll on; bridges (11, 12) that rotate about an axis that connects the two bilateral tracks (1) to a trailer deck (10); and a supporting structure (2) that elevates the two bilateral tracks and bridges (11, 12) to a height that is equal to or higher than a height of the trailer deck (10).
One embodiment of the present invention is a gas discharge system utilizing a temperature-actuated valve. The temperature-actuated valve uses a temperature-measuring device to sense the temperature of the natural gas after it pass through an expansion valve and after leaving a heat exchanger inside the discharge station. This temperature-measuring device sends a signal to a valve that is automatically actuated. If the temperature of the gas is too low, the valve is tightened, increasing the residence time in the heat exchanger and increasing the gas temperature. If the gas temperature is too high, the valve is opened, reducing the residence time in the heat exchanger, decreasing gas temperature. Using this temperature-actuated valve to control the temperature of a wet gas discharge station is also disclosed.
A positive displacement compressor designed for near isothermal compression. A rotor includes a curved sealing portion that coincides with a in an interior rotor casing wall. Liquid injectors provide cooling liquid. A gate moves within the compression chamber to either make contact with or be proximate to the rotor as it turns. Gate positioning systems position the gate in this manner, taking into account the shape of the rotor. Outlet valves allow for expulsion of liquids and compressed gas. The unique geometry and relationship between the parts provides for efficiencies and higher pressures not previously found in existing compressor designs.
