A spreader assembly (100) for maneuvering sections of an encapsulated lock ring includes a spreader bar (102) having a solid longitudinal portion (103) and slotted longitudinal portion (105). A fixed handle (104) is mounted on one end of the spreader bar within the solid longitudinal portion, and a slidable handle (106) is mounted within the slotted longitudinal portion. A hook-shaped latch (110) positioned between the handles is positioned over the region between the sections of the encapsulated lock ring and pins (112) from the handles are inserted into holes in the lock ring to secure the spreader assembly to the encapsulated lock ring. Pulling the two handles apart or pushing them together provides leverage and causes the sections to slide safely with respect to each other, avoiding potential pinching or injury.

WHEEL ASSEMBLY, LOCK-RING FOR WHEEL ASSEMBLY, HANDLE ENGAGEABLE WITH LOCK-RING, AND RELATED METHODS
A lock-ring system may include one or more lock-ring sections configured to at least partially define an annular lock-ring and one or more coupler plates configured to couple a first ring section end of a first lock-ring section to either a second ring section end of the first lock-ring section or to a ring section end of a second lock-ring section. The one or more coupler plates may be configured to be received in ring recesses of the one or more lock-ring sections. The one or more coupler plates may be coupled to the one or more ring section ends by fasteners and may be configured to slide relative to the ring recesses when the fasteners are loosened, so that a lock-ring formed by the one or more lock-ring sections may be mounted on, or removed from, a wheel assembly. A handle may be used to assist with maintaining separation of the lock-ring sections during handling and to assist with handling the lock-ring during removal and installation of the lock-ring on a wheel assembly.
A bolt together wheel assembly with deflation system includes an inner wheel half, an outer wheel half, a bolt cover ring, and a removable valve stem. Clamping bolts and clamping nuts secure the outer wheel half to the inner wheel half. Venting port plugs secure the bolt cover ring to the outer wheel half over the clamping bolts. Loosening one or more of the venting port plugs to access the clamping bolts opens a seal to a vent port within the inner wheel half and releases pressurized air from a tire on the wheel, ensuring that the tire is deflated before the wheel can be disassembled.
A tire (10) and wheel assembly (12) including a rim (16) and a bead- lock (38, 40) on each side of the tire/wheel. The tire (10) defines a cross-sectional shape and include first and second bead cores (42, 44) which are coupled to the wheel assembly (12) via the rim (16) and the bead-lock (38, 40). The tire (10) includes a carcass layer (60) extending laterally between the first and second bead cores (42, 44).The carcass layer (60) includes first and second turnups (62, 64) extending around the first and second bead cores (42, 44). The tire (10) further includes a material beam layer (74) extending laterally between the first and second bead cores (42, 44) and radially exterior relative to the carcass layer (60). The tire (10) also includes a sidewall stiffening layer (82) extending laterally at least substantially from the first to the second bead core (42, 44). The carcass layer (60), the material beam layer (74), and/or the sidewall stiffening layer (82) are configured such that the cross-sectional shape or the radial height of the tire (10) remains substantially constant when supporting a load.

A bolt together wheel assembly with deflation system includes an inner wheel half (103), an outer wheel half (106), a bolt cover ring (189), and a removable valve stem (121). Clamping bolts and clamping nuts secure the outer wheel half to the inner wheel half. Venting port plugs (124) secure the bolt cover ring to the outer wheel half over the clamping bolts. Loosening one or more of the venting port plugs to access the clamping bolts opens a seal to a vent port (157) within the inner wheel half and releases pressurized air from a tire on the wheel, ensuring that the tire is deflated before the wheel can be disassembled.
