Ring dyeing of yarn with indigo dye to produce an improved white core. An outer surface of the yarn is scoured prior to applying the indigo dye, and then applying the indigo dye is applied. Scouring parameters of the dyeing are used to limit a penetration of the indigo into the white core, so that the white core has mostly sections of white yarn, and the yarn has indigo dye on the outer surface, said parameters comprising limiting scouring parameters to at least 10% below current parameters used to scour the yarn.

IMPROVED RING DYE PROCESS AND MATERIAL PRODUCED THEREOF
A denim material formed of cotton yarn material formed of a rounded cross section material, where the cotton yarn material has an outside perimeter area which is between 10 and 35% of the total depth of the rounded cross section area. The outside perimeter has been cleaned by a chemical process, and an inside portion and the cotton yarn material is not cleaned and has its original waxes and impurities. The outside perimeter of the cotton yarn that is cleaned is dyed with a dye. That dye penetrates more into the cleaned area of between 10 and 35% of the total depth of the rounded cross section area. Conversely, the dye penetrates less in the inside area than it does in the cleaned area, That cotton yarn material is woven with other cotton yarn materials, wherein the yarn material has a yarn twist from about between 4.4 and 4.6 twists per inch for warp yarns and 4.9 to 5.1 twists per inch for with weft yarns.

The present invention generally relates to a surface treatment of fabric with a laser and, more specifically, to a system and method for generating a pattern used to process a surface of a fabric through laser irradiation and the fabric resulting from such treatment. The present invention provides small laser spot sizes while operating a laser at large field size by 1) using a laser system with post-objective scanning architecture; 2) using multiple lasers across the width of a fabric roll; and/or 3) increasing the size and weight of the laser scanning mirrors. The spot size normally associated with a smaller laser field size (e.g. 500 mm) may be achieved with a laser having a larger field size (e.g. 950 mm or greater) by practicing the teachings of this invention.
A method of scribing a graphic on a material is provided, in which laser output is applied to the material. The laser output is moved relative to the material at a high speed greater than 10 m per second, and at a high power greater than 500 W, to scribe a graphic on a surface of the material. Also provided is a system for scribing a graphic on a material. The method and system of the invention are especially useful in the scribing of building materials.
A method of generating a pattern used to process a surface of a fabric through laser irradiation is provided. The method includes the steps of defining a pattern area having an array of pixels. A laser irradiation unit area is defined where the laser irradiation unit area includes at least one pixel. A laser irradiation unit density associated with the pattern area can be selected where the irradiation unit density corresponds to a number of laser irradiation unit indicators included in the pattern area. A plurality of laser irradiation unit indicators are arranged within the pattern area based on the laser irradiation unit density and the defined laser irradiation unit area. An effective applied power of the laser is identified for each of the plurality of laser irradiation unit indicators.
