Abrégé

Provided is a sheet folding device comprising a speed reduction means for stopping a sheet by pressing against the same. A pressing member such as rubber is provided as the speed reduction means on the distal end of a rod member that is rotatably held. The speed of the sheet is reduced by having the pressing member press against the sheet at an angle. An effect in which wrinkles are not caused on the paper is brought about because the entire rubber face is not in contact with the paper. Moreover, the pressing member is supported with a see-saw mechanism. The rubber is in uniform contact with the sheet by way of the see-saw mechanism and the folding quality is improved.

Abrégé

Provided is a sheet folding device comprising a deceleration means which halts a sheet by pressing. A pressure member such as rubber is disposed upon the leading end of a rod-shaped member which is rotatably retained. A sheet is decelerated by the pressure member being applied obliquely to the sheet. The entire surface of the rubber does not make close contact with paper, and thus, a wrinkle is not formed in the paper. It is possible to ensure a stable folding location.

Abrégé

A sheet folding device operates as follows. A sheet member (S) is passed between a drive roller (11) and a driven roller (12) and delivered into a gap (G) in a sheet stopper (6). In this process, a pad (63) is located at a standby position and permits the entry of the sheet member (S) into the gap (G). When a sensor (7) detects the sheet member (S), a control unit (8) drives a solenoid (65). Then, the pad (63) moves to a sheet restraining position and presses the sheet member (S) against a lower guide plate (62) to prevent the forward movement of the sheet member (S). The rear end side of the sheet member (S) is continuously moved forward by both the rollers (11, 12), and this causes the sheet member (S) to sag downward between the drive roller (11) and the pad (63). As a result, the sagging portion (Sa) is caught between the drive roller (11) and the driven roller (13) and folded.

Abrégé

[PROBLEMS] To provide a simple sheet folding device capable of quickly corresponding to the change in a folding form. [MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] This sheet folding device comprises a sheet positioning means having sheet stoppers for stopping the movement of a sheet conveyed by a sheet conveying means by contacting with the front edge of the sheet, and a sheet bending means for holding and bending the portion of the sheet of which the movement is stopped by the sheet stoppers. The sheet positioning means has cover members (42, 52) opposite to sliding surfaces (41A, 51A) for sliding the sheet thereon. Gaps (43, 53) for permitting entering of sheet are formed between the cover members (42, 52) and the sliding surfaces (41A, 51A), respectively. Terminal end stoppers (45, 55) serving as the sheet stoppers are provided in the gaps (43, 53) on the sides opposite to the sheet entry sides thereof, respectively. Movable stoppers (46, 56) movable in the direction crossing relative to the sliding surfaces (41A, 51A) are provided in the gaps (43, 53) nearer the sheet entry sides than the terminal end stoppers, respectively.
