A golf club head comprising a body and a hollow stiffening structure is disclosed herein. The body comprises a face section, a sole section, and a crown section, and defines a hollow interior. The hollow stiffening structure extends within the hollow interior from the crown section to the sole section to reduce stresses placed on the face section during impact with a golf ball. The hollow stiffening structure creates stiffness in a vertical, crown-sole direction of the body, while reducing stiffness in the horizontal, front-rear direction, and is filled with a weighted dampening insert that extends the entirety of the length of the stiffening structure and blocks entry into the stiffening structure.
Golf club components with complex structures such as lattice structures, beam structures, and complex surface-based structures, are described herein. A binder jet machine is used create complex structures within these golf club components to optimize weighting, sound, and performance of golf club heads. These components may be manufactured using a method that includes the steps of designing a golf club head component in CAD using optimization software, printing the component from a powdered material, and then removing excess powder from the component via port holes that extend into an external surface of the component and communicate with interior voids within the component.

The golf club head comprises a body with face cavity and a secondary cavity in communication with, and disposed behind, the face cavity, and at least one opening extending through a top or sole portion into the secondary cavity. The replaceable face insert comprises a striking portion and a support structure extending from a rear surface of the striking portion. The support structure is received within the secondary cavity and the striking portion is received within the face cavity, and then a rod or bolt is inserted through the opening and through the support structure to reversibly secure the face insert to the body. A linear bearing may be disposed within the support structure to receive the rod or bolt.
A golf club head comprising a body with a heel-side sole opening in communication with a hosel bore, a removable shaft sleeve with a tip sized to fit within the hosel bore, and a weight plug sized to fit within, and at least partially fill, the heel-side opening is disclosed herein. The weight plug, which has a base end with a through-opening, a tip end with a flange, and a side opening in communication with the through-opening, is connected to the shaft sleeve with a screw.
