The timing device includes a timer to monitor a predetermined first time period, a signalling apparatus that provides an alert signal on expiry of the first time period, a power source to supply power to the timer and the signalling apparatus, a reset device operable to restart a monitoring of the first time period, and a reset controller configured to permit operation of the reset device only if it determines that one or more conditions are met. In an additional or alternative arrangement, the reset controller is configured to permit operation of the reset device based on receipt of an external signal from an external source.

The present disclosure describes timer devices that include a timer to monitor a time period and a signalling apparatus that provides an alert signal on expiry of the time period. In some embodiments, a label assembly is provided including first and second labels releasably connected to each other, each label each including a timer and signalling apparatus. In some embodiments, a label is provided with first, second and third portions, the first and second portions including respective fixing portions and the third portion including a timer and signalling apparatus. In some embodiments a timer assembly is provided where movement of a timer unit to a second position initiates monitoring of a predetermined time period. In some embodiments, a label assembly is provided that includes a timer and signalling apparatus and an elongate portion that forms a closed loop by extending into a through hole of the label assembly.

A label includes a timer to monitor a predetermined time period relating to a medical device, such as an indwelling cannula, or other product. The label includes a signalling apparatus that provides an alert signal on expiry of the predetermined time period and a fixing portion to fix the label to a support surface such as medical records of a patient. The label can have a first portion and a second portion and the first portion can be separable from the second portion. The fixing portion can be provided in the second portion and all or part of the signalling apparatus provided in the first portion. Also disclosed is a monitoring system for a medical device, including a base station and a label receivable by the base station. The monitoring system monitors a predetermined time period based on receipt of the label by the base station.
