PROPHYLACTIC USE OF BROMIDE TO PREVENT STRESS OR ANXIETY-INDUCED INANITION IN AN ANIMAL PRIOR TO SUBJECTING THE ANIMAL TO A MARKETING OR MANAGEMENT PRACTICE
The present invention is directed to methods of preventing stress in livestock, especially ruminant animals. More particularly, the present invention is directed to methods for minimising or preventing the induction of stress-related or stress- induced inappetence or inanition in an animal selected for a marketing or management practice, including animal husbandry, through the administration of a fommlation including bromide. The bromide is provided in an amount effective for preventing the animal from reducing feed intake, or more generally, from exhibiting reduced growth or productivity from lack of nourishment.
A method for minimising or preventing the induction of stress-related or stress- induced inappetance or inanition in an animal selected for a marketing or management practice.
The invention relates to the use of a peptide SEQ ID No: l comprising Ala-Ile-Lys-Leu-Val-Gln-Ser-Pro and SEQ ID No: 4, comprising Ala-Ile-Lys-Leu-Val-Gln-Ser-Pro-Asn-Gly-Asn-Phe-Ala-Ala-Ser-Phe-Val-Leu-Asp-Gly-Thr-Lys- Trp-Ile-Phe-Lys-Ser-Lys-Tyr-Tyr-Asp-Ser-Ser-Lys-Gly-Tyr-Trp-Val-Gly-Ile-Tyr-Glu-Val-Trp-Asp-Arg-Lys as an anti-fungal agent in the treatment of pastoral and oil producing crops, vegetables, nut, ornamental or wood producing plants. The peptides are also applied in the antifungal treatment of mammalian skin infections.
