The invention relates to a process for preparing a formulation of rosmarinic acid in a type I collagen hydrogel of bovine origin for topical application in the treatment of pressure ulcers, also known as decubitus ulcers or pressure sores, in domestic animals and human beings, with the aim of accelerating the healing of the ulcerous wounds, reducing the area affected by the wound and improving wound contraction, thereby providing an effective and promising option for the treatment of pressure ulcers.
The present patent of invention relates to a novel "topical antiseptic formulation containing polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride for oral use in animals" pertaining to the technical field of veterinary medicine. More specifically, it relates to a topical formulation for oral antisepsis aimed at the prevention (prophylaxis) of oral diseases in domestic animals, including caries and periodontitis. It is also intended for antiseptic use prior to and/or during clinical and surgical procedures requiring microbiological control in the oral cavity (such as dental cleaning, dental implants, oral biopsies, tooth extractions, endodontic treatments, and the application of local anaesthetics), based on polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride (PHMGH). The action of this topical formulation is based on the mechanisms of action of the component PHMGH, which exhibits high antifungal and antimicrobial activity even at low concentrations, lacks hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, cytotoxicity, and genotoxicity, and provides rapid and effective action in controlling microorganisms associated with conditions affecting the oral cavity of domestic animals, including dental caries and periodontitis. The proposed formulations therefore address problems arising in the technical field related to oral antisepsis, and serve both as a method for prophylaxis and for treatment or microbiological control in dental procedures, representing an alternative to conventional drugs and/or oral rinses.
The present invention relates to the use of PHMGH (polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride) and PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide) for the treatment of sewage and related waste (sludge and/or biosolids) from sewage treatment station processes, for enabling agricultural use of these waste materials. These polymers exhibits high antimicrobial power and low toxicity and have been shown to be able to reduce quickly the microbial load both of sewage and the related waste, when used in small concentrations (0.1-0.5%). The use claimed in this patent has a great potential of enhancement of sanitary and ecological conditions. Moreover, the treated waste can be used as fertilizer and contribute to increase the productivity of various agricultural crops, yielding economic advantages in this field.
IMPROVEMENT TO A METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING CALCIUM FLUOROALUMINOSILICATE GLASS POWDER CONTAINING SODIUM AND PHOSPHORUS, THUS OBTAINED GLASS POWDER AND USE THEREOF IN DENTAL CEMENTS AND AS A BIOMATERIAL FOR OSSEOUS SUBSTITUTION
The present invention relates to a method for synthesizing calcium fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder containing sodium and phosphorus at a lower temperature and with greater homogeneity than the present industrial production method, this material being used as a component of dental glass ionomer cements. The present method makes it possible to produce glass powder at a lower temperature, with greater homogeneity and with nanometric scale particles, which is not possible by the presently used method. The cost of production is approximately 60% lower than that of the industrial method. The glass powder can be used as a component of dental glass ionomer cement and as a biomaterial for osseous substitution. The glass ionomer cement produced with the calcium fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder containing sodium and phosphorus can also be used as a biomaterial for osseous substitution.

ROSMARINIC ACID FROM ORIGANUM VULGARE FOR TREATMENT OF DIABETES
It has been determined that many substances extracted from plants reduce the level of glucose in the blood. The great diversity of chemical classes indicates that a variety of mechanisms of action must be involved in the reduction of the level of glucose in blood. Thus, the present investigation searched to evaluate the infusion hypoglycemic activity, hydroalcohol extract from the vegetal species Organium vulgare, as well as the isolated substance - rosmarinic acid in diabetic rats induced by alloxan. Although the oral antidiabetics and insulin are efficient in diabetes therapeutic, they have side effects that make their use difficult, in addition to their high cost. Therefore, the search for plants or natural compositions that present hypoglycemic activity supply the need of new active compositions, less toxic and possibly more accessible to people.
