A light fixture has a base that is connected to a housing through a wireway at its upper portion and a pair of offsets at its lower portion, and a stabilizer block that is located between the pair of offsets extends from the base to a recess in the housing's lower portion with a friction fit connection. The housing's lower portion has a thickened sidewall in which the recess is formed. The thickened sidewall also includes a pair of cavities with apertures where the offsets are fastened to the base. The stabilizer block and the wireway are aligned with each other in a longitudinal axis, and the stabilizer block and the offsets are aligned with each other along a lateral axis that is perpendicular to the lateral axis. The wireway is harder than the housing, and its threaded end engages the threaded aperture in the housing's upper portion.
The light fixture connects a separable cage to a that may directly mount to the wall of a structure or which may mount to the structure through a wall plate. The cage has a frame with a roof and an open rear side that receives the backplate. A lighting assembly is connected to the front face of the backplate and is thereby housed within the interior of the cage when the unit is assembled and which can be accessed when the cage is removed. To removably attach the cage to the backplate, an aperture is provided within a ledge in the backplate that receives a tab to suspend the cage from the backplate fixedly connected to the supporting structure. Thus, the lighting assembly can be accessed by separating the cage from the backplate.

A non-unitary light fixture having a housing, neck and wall panel that is affixed to a wall or other supporting structure. The fixture includes a separable neck that mounts to the housing and wall panel on opposite ends with a water-tight seal created by a flange on each end of the neck. The flange overlaps the perimeter of respective mounting apertures within the housing and wall panel and thereby prevents water from entering either the housing or wall panel. The fixture further includes a tube extending between the housing and wall panel for routing electrical wires to a lighting assembly housed within the shade.

A modular light fixture has interchangeable assemblies for a top-mount configuration and a bottom-mount configuration. The cage, lens, and roof are the assemblies that can all be interchanged between the different mounting configurations. Each one of these assemblies has the same geometrical shape in the top-mount configuration and in the bottom-mount configuration. The cage has an upper collar, a lower collar, and side rails that connect the collars. The lens is a single-piece shell that is formed in either a prismatic shape or a cylindrical shape. The roof slopes downward from a center section to an outer section. The top-mount bracket assembly for the top-mount configuration is a single-piece injection-mold plastic part which can be produced with an arm extending from a wall panel and without any finial.

A circuit for driving an LED lighting device from an AC power source includes a rectifier and one or more strings of LEDs. Each string of LEDs includes multiple LEDs. A controller produces control signals that open and close a set of switches that corresponding with the LED groups. The controller uses a current mirror with a pair of reference branches situated between a reference voltage and ground and between the switches and ground. Each reference branch has a first-in-line resistor between the reference voltage and the current mirror which primarily set the reference current through the controller by having the highest impedances, and the control signals are produced by a set of resistors on one of the branches. Each branch also has a last-in-line resistor between the current mirror and ground with the lowest impedances. The selection of the highest impedances and lowest impedances reduces sensitivity to temperature variations.
A method and circuit for driving an LED lighting device from an AC power source includes a rectifier and a plurality of strings of LEDs. Each string of LEDs includes a plurality of LEDs. A plurality of switches is controlled by a controller for opening and closing the switches. The controller is adapted to vary the number of strings conducting electricity by applying voltage from the rectifier to arrangements of the plurality of strings of LEDs selected based upon the present voltage of the output of the rectifier and the forward bias voltage of each of the strings of LEDs.
