A lighting system including a light engine head containing an LED light engine and a control housing containing control gear electronics includes a fixture support providing thermal separation between the light engine head and the control housing. The fixture includes a lid with a bar extending from the edge thereof. The lid closes the control housing while the bar mounts the light engine head. An anchoring mount is also on the bar. The lid includes receptacles for receiving power, control and light engine cables with wicking barriers separating the various components provided in the lid itself. Temperature sensors in the light engine head and in the control housing send data communication to the control gear electronics to limit power to avoid thermal loading. The control gear electronics modulates the power to prevent apparent cycling. A pool lighting system provides similar features in a niche. A gap open to the niche thermally separates the light engine head from the control housing.

A replacement light fixture (10) for directing light emitted from a light source (12) toward an area to be illuminated, including a base member (20) upon with the light source (12) is positioned and a reflector assembly (90) detachably secured to a first and second mounting brackets (50, 52) that are mounted to a portion of the preexisting light fixture housing such that a lens portion (110) of the reflector assembly (90) overlies the light source (12) and such that substantially all of the light emitted from the light source (12) passes through the lens portion (110).
The invention relates to a thermal management system for a lamp. The system comprises a lamp socket that comprises a socket body. The thermal assembly is in thermal communication with the socket body to form a thermal circuit between the lamp and the thermal assembly for dissipating heat generated by the lamp.

A constant lumen output control system for providing a constant lumen output throughout the life of a lamp at the mean or preset lumen level . The lumen con system (315) coupled to a lamp driver (310) initially reduces the power to the lamp (330) to prevent the lamp from being operated at power levels that result excess mean or preset lumen levels. With increased lamp usage, the lumen contr system gradually increases power to the lamp to compensate for lamp lumen depreciation due to light-reducing mechanisms. By compensating for lamp lumen depreciation the lamp is operated at a constant mean or preset lumen output throughout the life of the lamp.
A light management system (100) having networked intelligent luminaire managers (112); Light management system (100) includes networks (102a) and (102b), a network operation center (106), light system owner/operators (108a) and (108b), and third-party users (110). These subsystems of system (100) are linked together using appropriate communication means such as, for example, radio frequency communications, optical communications and/or power line carrier to form communications backbone (104). Each of the networks (102a) and (102b) includes several intelligent luminaire managers (ILMs) 112 and a master control (114). The intelligent luminaire managers (112) communicate with each other and with master controller (114) using, for example, short-range radio frequency (RF) communication links. In an embodiment, these RF communication links operate in the 900 MHz unlicensed band and have a range of about 1000 feet.
