A button and button hole structure (10) is configured so that parts (24, 44) linking each of a pair of buttons (22, 42) and a section of fabric (12) on one side are positioned at the distal ends or proximal ends of a pair of button holes (32, 52) provided to a section of fabric (14) on the other side. Therefore, when the buttons (22, 42) are buttoned, it is possible to have the buttons (22, 42) move less, relative to the button holes (32, 52), than in the past, and the buttons (22, 42) can stay buttoned more stably. As a result, the buttons are less likely to come undone inadvertently, and increasing the size of the button holes (32, 52) facilitates buttoning and unbuttoning of the buttons (22, 42).
